**A helpful read**
The Church and Public Affairs in 2020

Let us consider the role that we as Christians might play during these divided times. If Lincoln could see God’s purposes in a political stalemate and could speak words of unity and compassion, cannot we do the same? If Lincoln could say these words, and mean them, after our great national Civil War, surely we can say them in light of our heated, but much less violent, social and political war: "With malice toward none with charity for all with firmness in the right as God gives us to see the right let us strive on to finish the work we are in to bind up the nation's wounds . . . ~ to do all which may achieve and cherish a just and lasting peace [and health!] among ourselves and with all nations."
May we work as a church in the coming year to build bridges for the gospel, for religious freedom, and for peace and justice in our church and our nation.

What happens when you say, "It is no longer I who live but Christ who lives in me," like in Galatians 2:20? It impacts everything you think, say or do. During Black History Month and beyond, open your heart to your brothers and sisters to listen, learn and grow. Allow the love of Jesus, the Best Champion of justice, to guide you.

Who are your new neighbors? The welcoming state of Washington has top country refugee arrivals from the Ukraine, Afghanistan, and the Former Soviet Union.
It's not easy to get started in a new community, and that's where resettlement agencies like World Relief Seattle come in. Faith partners are greatly needed to help in this process.
On February 20 at 6 pm, two representatives from World Relief Seattle will be guests of Refuge Church and Washington Conference Outreach Ministries for a web broadcast to talk about how the church can walk alongside refugee and immigrant communities.
