Mask Magic Returns!


This year PRAC will be supplying kits with masks and markers through the library to children ages 4-10.

Afterwards join the virtual parade on Instagram using #PickeringMaskMagic tag and share your photos and artwork.

Ask An Expert: Climate Change in Durham Region

The St. Francis Centre is pleased to present Lights! Camera! Buzz In! – a free virtual trivia series that will test your knowledge on a variety of fun themes.  You’ll go head to head with other players, trying to climb the leaderboard for some great prizes.  Compete every month with themes like Disney, Broadway, Summer Blockbusters, Musical Decades and more!  It’s brain bustin’ time, folks!

We kick off this new virtual series on Thursday, April 22 from 7- 8 p.m. with Disney Trivia!

“Swing Into Spring” Virtual Paint Party

Saturday, May 8, 2021 – 1:00 – 3:00 pm
Join in virtually with our instructor, Emily Buckley, for a paint night style class featuring "Swing into Spring". Work step by step alongside the instructor to recreate this beautiful piece! Learn basic acrylic painting techniques and more!
This class would be a perfect activity for celebrating Mother's Day or just for fun! You can even give your final piece as a gift to someone! Hope to "see" you there!

Artwork will be displayed at     www.ajaxlibrary.ca  from April 5-21 for all to view and vote on the People’s Choice Award.
Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 entries in each category: JK to Grade 3, Grades 4 and 5, and Grades 6 to 8. In partnership with PineRidge Arts Council.

The Durham Regional Police Service is currently promoting two youth opportunities for youth in the Durham Region. We are promoting our 2021 Summer Youth In Policing Initiative as well as a new Youth Advisory Committee. The Youth Advisory Committee will be comprised of individuals ages 16-24 and will advise the Equity & Inclusion Unit about how to work towards being a more equitable, inclusive and effective police service.

During this difficult time of lockdown, Music4life String Orchestra is providing access to our virtual, pre-recorded concert 'Hello Spring' to Retirement homes, LTCs and other similar living communities. Organizations can download the concert directly from us or can access it through a dedicated webpage hosted by Music4life String Orchestra. 

Our 20 minute concert contains classical springtime music performed by our orchestra and includes Guest Artist, Donovan Seidle, concert master of the Calgary Philharmonic. One of our sample songs !

Artist Julia Rose Sutherland and the VAC seek 6 BIPOC artist / studio assistants and 8 BIPOC lifecasting models from the Durham Region to participate in a paid opportunity to co-create an installation called Npuinu (ên·pu· I ·nu) "Corpse,”. This new artwork will be shown in the upcoming exhibition Bodies in Conflict at the VAC in late 2021.

We have organized a fabulous Online Concert Season for 2021. I would like to sincerely thank the following soloists who are so kindly lending their fantastic talents for several virtual concerts in 2021 for the Ontario Philharmonic. Beyond this Online experience, these musicians will be performing for you live on stage as of 2022 with Ontario Philharmonic, when we all hope and expect the pandemic crisis to be mitigated and tamed to the point of allowing us all to safely get back to a normal way of life.
