Urgent Call for Proposals: Healthy Communities Initiative

The Government of Canada has released a call for proposals for the $31 million Healthy Communities Initiative. This initiative will provide funds to create and adapt public spaces, programming, and services to respond to ongoing needs arising from COVID-19 over the next two years.
 
UFV is able to submit one proposal. To provide sufficient time for adjudication and revision, the following timeline is provided:
  • Feb 19 (4pm PST): Deadline to submit 1-page Letter of Intent (LOI) outlining project focus, outputs, and value to Anita.Nielsen@ufv.ca
  • Feb 22: Review Committee notifies successful applicant
  • March 3: Application must be complete for final internal review and approval
  • March 9: UFV submits proposal
Proposals that include collaboration between UFV departments and/or external organizations will be prioritized. Contact Garry Fehr (AVP, Research) and Anita Nielsen (Exec. Director, Advancement & Alumni Relations) if you have questions.
 

Apply for $4-8k to support your student-engaged research


Our Faculty/Student Research and Scholarly Activity Fund supports projects that have a strong student engagement and mentorship component. Type-B, Academic Support Faculty, and Directors eligible.  Apply by February 15 

Canadian Digital Research Infrastructure Needs Assessment


The New Digital Research Infrastructure Organization (NDRIO) has launched a nation-wide survey to assess the digital research infrastructure (DRI) needs of researchers in Canada.  Take the survey by February 22 

Gov't grant supports short-term teaching/research projects abroad


The Government of Canada (Faculty Mobility for Partnership Building Program) is offering $7,000 grants for full-time professors and researchers to host short-term teaching or research projects in Latin America and the Caribbean.  Apply by February 25 

Grants for students in Southeast Asia to do research in Canada


Canada-ASEAN Scholarships and Educational Exchanges for Development (SEED) provides students from member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) with short-term study and research exchange opportunities in Canada.  Apply by March 4 

CIHR hosts discussions on racism in health research sector


In consultation with IBPOC researchers and stakeholders, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) have developed ongoing discussions and engagement activities to unpack systemic racism in health research. Visit Let’s Talk CIHR and click on “REGISTER" to get involved.  Forum is open until April 7

PARC has funding available for faculty, student, and community artists and activists


Last September, UFV's Peace and Reconciliation Centre (PARC) announced a number of grants, fellowships, and scholarships to support creative, community-engaged projects. Awards range from $250-$3,000 and are open to faculty, staff, and community members.  Apply now!
