Hello again, <<First Name>>.

Winter Sports Day is a much-anticipated annual activity at Louisville Adventist Academy. On Thursday, February 25, all students have an opportunity to participate in either skiing or ice skating field trips. The pandemic has put quite a damper on our usual activities, and we are excited that this event can be done with a minimum of risk!

See below the information for both options. Permission forms will be emailed and handed out on Tuesday, February 16, and payment and paperwork is due by Tuesday, February 23.

Skiing:

  • Location and Cost: We will be going to True North Slopes near Cincinnati, Ohio, at the cost of $40 per person for a four-hour ski time. Ski rental is included for all and one free ski lesson is included for skiers over the age of 7.
  • Timing: Students and parents who are planning to ski will leave the school between 8:30-8:45 and caravan together up to the ski slopes. Skiers will return after their four-hour window is over, and we estimate they will be back in the area around 5-5:30 pm.
  • Transportation: All students who plan to ski must arrange for their own ride to and from the ski slopes. The school will not be providing transportation, but students may arrange to ride together with an adult who is available to take them.
  • Food: Lunch is NOT included. We recommend that students bring their own snacks to eat on the way to the slopes, as we will not be breaking during our four-hour session for a lunch together. They may also stop and purchase food on the way back, but we need to stay together on the way there so we arrive at the same time for purchasing our group tickets.
  • Weather: If inclement weather prevents skiing that day, students will ice skate instead, and remaining payments will be returned or applied to your tuition, per your choice.
  • Clothing: Be sure to send lots of layers so your student will be warm and comfortable!

Ice Skating:

  • Location & Cost: Students who choose to go Ice Skating ($8 each) will go to the Alpine Ice Arena less than a mile from the school.
  • Transportation & Timing: Students will leave the school via school transportation one classroom at a time after lunch, around 12:15, and will skate there until 2:30, when they will be brought back one classroom at a time, or parents can pick them up there directly.
  • Food: There will be no purchasing of snacks at the ice rink this year to avoid unmasked time with mixed classrooms.
  • Masks will be worn in the skating center unless the student is on the ice.
  • Car Seats: Our young ice skating students that must use car seats will need theirs left at the school that day for transportation.
  • Clothing: Be sure to send lots of layers so your student will be warm and comfortable!

Other:

  • If you are not comfortable with your student participating in either activity, you will need to pick them up by noon from the school that day.

Online students:

Our online students are invited to participate as well. However, a parent or guardian will need to provide transportation both to and from the ski slope or the ice skating rink
We are looking forward to a fun day for the students to enjoy together! Please call the office if you have any questions.

Blessings,

David Matthews
