Geology Club Study Hall

Even now, we're still adjusting to online and hybrid classes. It's often more comfortable to work solo on coursework, rather than reaching out to classmates in person to collaborate with. That is why we're going to organize virtual study hall hours with classes you all would like to focus on!

Fill out this poll for next week to help us figure out when to hold the study hall.

Take this survey to let us know what you'd want a study group for!
https://forms.gle/SLwJ34nEf2wrcAiX8

It'll be just like meeting in the majors room in Tracy Hall. We'll let you know which courses were requested to be focused on, so you'll know if there will be partners in your class to work with and go into breakout rooms. The main session will remain open to ask general questions. Socializing (virtually) is also very much encouraged and all majors welcome!

AWG Scholarships

The Salt Lake Chapter of the Association for Women Geoscientists' is pleased to announce six scholarship opportunities offered to female geoscience students and professionals in Utah!

To learn how to apply, please click here to access the scholarship information package. Please note the deadline for all applications and nominations is March 31st, 2021, and only electronic submissions as a pdf file sent to awg.slchapter@gmail.com will be considered.

Face Coverings on Campus

Please remember that you are required to wear face-coverings while in a campus building, unless you meet one of the limited exceptions. You do not have to wear a mask while you are outside, unless you are in a group that cannot be socially distanced. Mineral of the Week - Hematite

Hematite is a very common mineral on the Earth's surface and can form in many environments. This mineral has been known to humans for millennia and has been used for pigment in cave paintings and as an ore for iron. It is a beautiful mineral and can take on many forms, but it will always have a reddish streak. To learn more about hematite, please click here.
