Walk Street Trek
Want to meet face to face with CEOs and executives of some of the largest Wall Street firms? Now’s your chance.

Apply by Sunday, February 14th to be one of approximately twenty students selected for the Case Western Reserve University 2021 Wall Street Trek. The annual Wall Street Trek, traditionally held each May in New York City, connects current CWRU undergraduates with a powerful network of alumni for one-on-one meetings, panel discussions and networking events.

The 2021 Wall Street Trek will be held virtually.

The Wall Street Trek is a great opportunity to explore career opportunities in finance and related areas in New York City. The trek will involve individual meetings and panel discussions with a broad range of institutions and alumni across many facets of the financial world. Many alumni you’ll meet are also in cutting-edge roles in technological innovation, research and more.

You can make changes to your schedule through the drop/add period which concludes Friday, Feb. 12, 2021 at 11:59 EST. While it is possible to change classes through the end of the drop/add period, you are strongly encouraged to finalize your schedule early in the drop/add period.

Please note special drop/add deadlines for half-semester courses and dynamically dated courses:

  • First-half semester courses | Friday, Feb. 5, 2021
  • Second-half semester course | Friday, April 2, 2021
  • Dynamically-dated courses | Day before the class begins

Building Black Avenue
Thursday February 18, 2021 from 4:00 - 5:30 PM (EST)
Join Daniel Gray Kontar (director of Twelve Literary Arts) and members of the Youth Development Council for a virtual discussion about the creation of the new "Black Avenue" along E. 66th Street and the integral role that teens are playing in its development.  Hear how the built environment has shaped the youths' lives and their understanding of the neighborhood, learn how the act of collecting stories from residents and elders in strengthening intergenerational trust and respect, and discover their vision for the new Black Avenue.

Following the presentation, attendees will be invited to ask questions and share their own ideas for community development in Hough. Register here for the Zoom link.

Advocacy 101: Community Organizing with Ohio Student Association & CWRU Clubs
Friday February 19, 2021 from 12:40 - 2:00 PM (EST)
The Advocacy 101 virtual workshop is designed to give you the tools to help you take a stand for the issues you believe in. During this workshop, you’ll learn about approaches to advocacy from Rachel Collyer with the Ohio Student Association, a statewide organization led by young people in Ohio that organizes young people to work towards racial, social, economic, and educational justice. Student organizations, such as CWRU Survivors, Physical Resource Center, Student Caregivers, and the Black Student Union, will also help you see CWRU student advocates in action by sharing ways they have used advocacy tools, including public education, dialogue, political engagement, demonstrations, and more, to make change on causes they care about. Explore similar events as part of CCEL's monthly Social Change Series.

CWRUinCLE Live: Accelerate Civic Innovators Pitch Competition
February 22 - February 25, 2021
CCEL is covering the costs for CWRU students to be able to tune in virtually to the Cleveland Leadership Center’s annual Accelerate pitch competition. You’ll hear community members present about their civic innovation ideas within the categories of Authentic Cleveland Experiences, Economic Development, Education, Health & Well-being, Quality of Life, and Social Change (presenter list and ideas available online). Pitches will occur between Monday, February 22-Thursday, February 25, and those who tune in the final evening will be able to vote on the winner. The deadline to register is Sunday, February 14 by 11:59pm EST.

Declaring Racism a Public Health Crisis
Friday February 26, 2021 from 4:45 PM – 6:00 PM EST
As part of the Center for Civic Engagement & Learning’s (CCEL) February spotlight on “Advocacy” as a form of civic engagement that contributes to social change, the CCEL student Executive Council has convened a virtual panel discussion of changemakers from Cuyahoga County who were influential in advocating for the passage of these resolutions and who serve on the citizen task forces to share more about the resolutions and changes they would like to see implemented.

Virtual Volunteering Opportunities
The CWRU Center for Civic Engagement and Learning has compiled a list of virtual volunteering opportunities, several of which are political science related.

USAID LPA Internship 
USAID’s Bureau for Legislative and Public Affairs (LPA) serves as the liaison between the Agency and the American people, Congress, media, and other key constituencies. Interning at LPA provides a broad overview of the functions of all of USAID’s bureaus. Applications close March 15, 2021.

Carter Center Summer Internships 
The Carter Center Internships provide students with an unpaid opportunity to explore careers in the field of Peace, Health, or Operations in Atlanta. Internships are also offered in the Fall and Spring. Applications close March 1, 2021.

American Foreign Policy Council Summer Internship 
The AFPC internship is an unpaid research opportunity for students to interact closely with foreign policy professionals by assiting in the publication of articles and the organizing of events. Applications close March 15, 2021.

Cleveland Foundation Public Service Fellowship
The Cleveland Foundation Public Service Fellowship immerses talented, emerging leaders from across the country in the work of Cleveland’s public sector, providing them an opportunity to develop their skills, enhance their networks, and jumpstart a career in public service. Applications for the 2021-2022 Public Service Fellowship can be submitted online through Feb. 15, 2021.

Teach for America 
As a corps member, you’ll be challenged to think creatively and lead boldly. You’ll leverage your unique talents to dismantle inequities from the classroom and beyond. The next application deadline is March 5, 2021.

City Year 
The role of a City Year AmeriCorps member is designed to help students build the social-emotional and academic skills to achieve their goals. The next application deadline in March 5, 2021.
