North News

Greetings, North Families!

It has been great seeing all of our students, I assume, smiling faces the past couple weeks. Students have seemed happy to be back and working with their teachers in person. We are finishing up our second trimester and preparing for our third Trimester after Mid-winter Break. We encourage all students to utilize the remaining Flex Fridays to meet with teachers during office hours to get as much help as they can at the end of the Trimester.

With these cold temperatures please make sure you are not dropping your child off early, our doors do not open until 8:30 am. Also please encourage your students to keep their masks up throughout the day. We want to make sure that all students are safe and minimize the spread of COVID.

Respectfully,

Principal Brian Nutter
Assistant Principal William Sininger

COP'S

CORNER

St. Cloud Police Department is leading the industry in law enforcement, mental health and community relationships. The department as a whole is made up of 112 sworn police officers. We have three primary units; Patrol Unit, Criminal Investigation Unit and Community Engagement Unit. Community Engagement unit makes up four smaller divisions which include School Resource Officers (SRO), Community Oriented Policing (COP House), Campus Area Policing Services (CAPS) and Community Crime Impact Team (CCIT). Each division of Community Engagement covers a different need for our community members. School Resource Officer, where I fit in, helps within the school and collaborates resources outside and inside of school and bridges relationships between police and families/kids which is a short and abbreviated description. The Community Oriented Policing works out of the Community COP House down by southside park. They frequently host youth programs, on any criminal activity in the neighborhood, collaborate with our community leaders in events and projects to name a few small idea of their job. The Campus Area Police Services work in relationship with St. Cloud State University doing a similar job as SRO’s just at the college level as well as cover patrol calls in the area of campus and last but not least our Community Crime Impact Team which works with businesses to complete safety assessments, they co-respond with patrol officers to mental health calls for services. Within CCIT we have a HRA representative that works within HRA housing to address any needs they may have and we also work in relationships with our homeless community and resource groups. It’s amazing we can assist in so many community needs as a police department. If you’d like to learn more about any of the Units or division I mentioned please let me know. This is only the tip of the iceberg of what our police department offers!
