Jesus, precious Shepherd

Behold the Lord God...He will feed His flock like a shepherd; He will gather the lambs with His arm, and carry them in His bosom, and gently lead those who are with young.

Isaiah 40:10-11 - NKJV

The Lord is a shepherd to you! His tender care is close at hand in all your circumstances of life. It is through daily fellowship with that you start to have daily experiences of His care. By coming into a place where you know Him as the One who has led you, has fed you and has carried you, you will find Him as very precious to you! 1 Pet.2:7.

Reflect for a moment on the affection a lamb develops for a good shepherd who has reared it by hand. Then think of the sort of affection a lamb would have for a shepherd who had rescued it from the wolf's mouth and carried it while its wounds were healed. Similarly, it is a depth of affection like this that we should have for our Shepherd, Jesus Christ. After all He has rescued us! What's more, He is ready to carry us when we are weak. He is ready to feed us with the milk of His word as if from a bottle should we be spiritually feeble or small. Then, as our strength improves, He will lead us as a shepherd to where the spiritual food is best. Joh.10:11, Psa.23:1-3.

As you wake in the morning, get into prayer first thing. Have Jesus wrap His arms around you and be a refuge to you. Behold the Lord as there for you. See Him watching over you and ready to receive you into His arms. Let Him protect and provide for you. Fellowship with Him, feed at His hand. It is in finding the Lord every morning that you can live your day in the knowledge of His loving care and concern. You will find He is very precious to you! Jer.29:13-14.
