RACV Most Dangerous Regional Roads Survey
RACV is calling on regional Victorians to pinpoint the most dangerous roads in their area on an interactive online map to help make the state's roads safer.

RACV's My Country Road survey uses the interactive map to show high-speed roads with the most craches causing death or serious injury in regional Victoria, and seeks comments from people with local knowledge.

We take dog attacks, dog rushes/chases and dogs at large very seriously in Yarriambiack.

Dogs are territorial and a dog of any size or breed can become aggressive when defending its territory. Most dog attacks in public places occur on the footpath or road in front of the attacking dog's property. Confining dogs to the property would prevent 80% of dog attacks in public places!

Under the Domestic Animals Act 1994, all dog owners must securely confine dogs to the property. This means your yard must have a closed gate, and an escape-proof fence that your dog can not jump, get under or through.
Naming of Unnamed Road
Council received a letter requesting to name the Un-named Road from Maxwells Road to the driveway of residence at 32 Maxwells Road, Lascelles.  Council adopted this recommendation at the Ordinary Council meeting held on 26 August 2020 and is advertising for submissions to be made for the naming of this Un-named road.

All submissions should be made in writing and addressed to the Chief Executive Officer, Yarriambiack Shire Council, PO Box 243, Warracknabeal, 3393. Submissions will be received up to Friday 12 March 2021. For further information contact Nathan Mclean on 0407 699 545
PERMIT TO BURN – APPLICATION AVAILABILITY HAS CHANGED
During the Fire Danger Period (FDP) A Schedule 13 permit may be issued to an individual person under Section 38(1) of the Country Fire Authority Act 1958, to enable that person to burn off grass, stubble, weeds, scrub, undergrowth or other vegetation. Permits are usually issued to farmers late in the FDP to allow them to conduct stubble burning.

Applications for permits to burn for agricultural purposes are no longer available at the Yarriambiack Shire Council, and are also no longer approved by Council. You can now apply for Permits online through the Fire Permits Victoria website https://firepermits.vic.gov.au/

Council invites all residents across the shire to attend a Community Engagement Session to discuss the future needs of their town. The Community Engagement Sessions are the first activity in the extensive process of developing the 2021 – 2024 Council Plan.

The 2021 – 2024 Council Plan will include:

  • A community vision for the next 10 years: in 2031, what does your town look like, who lives here, what services and infrastructure are needed?
  • A strategic plan to work towards for the next 4 years: What can we do by 2024 to achieve these community goals?
  • A financially stable budget plan for the next 10 years: How do we best use Council funds to achieve these goals? What grants and alternative funding opportunities are required?
  • An Asset Management Plan: We need to plan for maintenance as well as new projects. How do we balance this over time?

This is your opportunity to tell Council what your community needs!

It is important to us that we engage with all members of the community during this process. Tier 1 sessions are a general forum covering all aspects of Council and community. Tier 2 sessions will include specific discussions with Councillors and the extended Senior Leadership Team on 5 areas:

  1. Roads and Infrastructure
  2. Family and Health
  3. Economic Development And Tourism
  4. Sport and Recreation
  5. Council Services

In addition to the community engagement sessions there has been a survey developed to obtain additional information. The survey is available here or at the Customer Service Office. A copy of the survey, as well as a flier detailing the community sessions has been distributed via Australia Post.

For enquiries regarding the sessions please contact Director Community Development and Wellbeing Mr Gavin Blinman on (03) 5398 0131 or email gblinman@yarriambiack.vic.gov.au.
