K-5 SUMMER REGISTRATION!
Community of Saints K-5 Extended Day program is accepting registration for our summer program.  Please contact Katie Hartz with any questions and for registration materials: khartz@communityofsaints.org
School Start Time--This is a reminder that our school day starts at 8:30am.  It is extremely important for students to consistently be on time so they can start their day with routine and structure along with the rest of their classmates.  Additionally, our classroom days begin with morning meetings and important community building/social-emotional learning skill building.  This is an essential part of the whole person experience that we provide.

School Calendar--A reminder that because we are fully back in person, please treat our school calendar as such.  All Wednesdays will be full distance learning days for grades 2-8--we are currently not following the hybrid adjustments that were made earlier in the year.  Example: Wednesday, March 24th is marked as a Group B day--however, as we are fully back in person, the 24th will be a full distance day, and the 22nd, 23rd, and 25th will be full in person learning days.

Wednesdays--While grades 2-8 are not physically in the building on Wednesdays, they are important academic, spiritual and social-emotional learning days.  Students need to log in on Wednesdays and actively participate in their class schedules.  Curriculum and instruction does not pause on these days, and not engaging in learning on Wednesdays has an impact on students' progress and growth.
FISH FRY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Our students and parents that volunteered last week did such an amazing job!  St. Matthew Men's Club donates back a portion of their proceeds toward our school for helping at their event!
We have one more week coming up--we would love your help and support!

WHEN: Friday, March 5th
TIME: 4pm - 8pm
WHERE: Saint Matthew's Social Hall

Introducing
In 2010, Every Meal began by providing weekend food bags to one kindergarten classroom at Sheridan Elementary in Northeast Minneapolis.  Every Meal recognized that food insecurity was happening throughout the Twin Cities, and became a nonprofit in 2013 to grow their network of community and school partners. As of fall 2019, they serve over 6,500 children in over 200 schools in their weekend food program and another 3,200 children in over 70 additional locations through their other programs.

At CoS, we thought 2020-21 would be the perfect time to partner with Every Meal due to the ongoing pandemic.  We recognize that many families may be under additional strains at this time.  While we do need to internally keep track of who would like to receive this service to ensure we have enough food, this information is not shared with anyone outside of the school, nor are there any eligibility requirements.  While we strongly believe there should be no shame or judgement about taking steps to ensure the wellbeing of your children, food will be distributed as discreetly as possible within the constraints of our facilities.

Below, please fill out a form for one or more of your children that attend COS if you are interested in enrolling in this program.  Again, this information will be kept confidential.  We plan to begin distribution of food in March.  Please contact City Connects site coordinator: Chris Benefield cbenefield@communityofsaints.org or Bridget Kramer: bkramer@communityofsaints.org with any questions.

The Lenten season has begun in the Catholic Church.  The purpose of Lent is to set aside time for reflection on Jesus Christ--to prepare for his death on Good Friday and resurrection on Easter. Lent is a time to focus on the three disciplines of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving.  Below are some lenten videos and activities for families to use over the next few weeks.

Enrollment 2021-22 School Year

Our early enrollment period is underway for the 2021-22 school year.

Enrollment for current K-7 students

You do not need to do anything at this time.  Current K-7 students fall under our continuous enrollment process. Continuous enrollment means once a student enrolls at Community of Saints, we assume the student will remain at the school through 8th grade unless a family tells us otherwise. The vast majority of Community of Saints families re-enroll from year-to-year and continuous enrollment simplifies that process – no forms or due dates!

District 197 Bus Meal Delivery:

Buses will wait 10 minutes at each site.

To find a drop-off point near you, check the district map below, find the route that covers your area, and check the drop-off points by route: https://www.isd197.org/departments/meals
