The Rt. Hon. The Lord Deben (John Selwyn Gummer) was Secretary of State for the Environment from 1993-1997 and was appointed to the House of Lords in 2010.  He is Chairman of the UK's independent Committee on Climate Change.  He is a director of the Catholic Herald and a trustee of climate change charity Cool Earth.  He became a Catholic in 1992 and is an Honorary Vice-President of the Friends of the Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham.
