A bi-monthly newsletter to update you on our activities, share some useful information... and spread a little love.

Dear Friend,

If you've ever been to our clinic, you'll know it's always bustling with activity. From rushing in critical emergency cases to arranging thorough examinations for our returning patients, every day at Raintree is a beautiful, unpredictable, unparalleled gift. But amidst all the new Covid-19 precautions over the past year, we've realised that one key component that has been so instrumental in making us who we are has been relatively disconnected from our daily lives. That missing piece is you.

This is why we've decided to curate a bi-monthly newsletter for you. We hope you enjoy reading our updates, meeting some of our new in-patient animals, and browsing through our helpful tips on pet care. And if for any reason you feel you aren't quite ready to subscribe to our newsletter just yet, you can always unsubscribe using the link at the bottom of this email — we'll never hold that against you!

As always, thank you for your support throughout these tough times.

Love,
Team Raintree

We Have a New Number!

In order to cope with the sheer number of calls we receive every day, we now have a new primary number, which is functional daily from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm. Meanwhile, our emergency number continues to remain active 24 hours a day for serious cases such as night emergencies. Please don't forget to update your address books!

A Concerning Number of GDV Cases...
In January alone, we had six different dogs rushed to Raintree with severe cases of GDV (two of them night emergencies; one of them so critical that he was about to go into shock by the time he was brought to us). We know it’s hard to imagine any degree of suffering when it comes to our animals, but as responsible pet parents, we believe it’s important to stay informed. Here's a helpful guide on Gastric Dilation-Volvulus: a life-threatening condition most commonly seen in large/deep-chested dogs such as Great Danes, Dobermans, Dalmatians, German Shepherds, Labradors, Pitbulls, etc.
If you have a large/deep-chested dog and they are retching, breathing heavily, or are in any kind of visible discomfort, call us immediately.
More Emergency Surgeries...

From pressing pause on our Republic Day Anti-Rabies Drive to rush back to the clinic and operate on a sweet Labrador whose routine scans revealed a ruptured gut, to pumping 200 grams of toxic chocolate from a little beagle's stomach, to rushing immediately after that to replace our naughty therapy cat's feeding tube (which he had somehow removed on his own!), and collaborating with veterinarians from across the state to deliver quality veterinary care to all species — including birds like Max the cockatiel — it's safe to say we've had a busy start to the year!

Making Quality Veterinary Care Accessible to All...
When it comes to horses, the Race Course is the only other place that has the facilities to treat major medical afflictions. Unfortunately, this also means that only horses with the appropriate certification are eligible to receive this treatment. Any other horse — such as a non-thoroughbred, or horses owned by pastoral communities like the Dhangars — is generally far removed from access to the surgical expertise or facilities needed for medical emergencies. In situations like these, Raintree steps in.

Special Events at Raintree
With your help, this January, we were able to vaccinate nearly 100 stray dogs and cats as part of our annual Anti-Rabies Vaccination Drive! We were also able to provide free first-time anti-rabies vaccinations to newly adopted indies, engage with local residents about the importance of vaccinating one's community animals, and offer plenty of biscuits to every new furry friend! Thank you to everyone who signed up for our ARV Drive.
This February, we ran a special on dental checkups, offering free oral health checkups throughout Valentine's Day Week. Too often, oral hygiene tends to be ignored in a pet's overall healthcare regimen at home, and it was wonderful to see so many pet parents take an active interest in learning more about periodontal disease. Don't forget to follow us on social media, and keep your eyes peeled for more specials throughout the year!

Thank you for signing up to receive Raintree Veterinary Clinic's bi-monthly newsletters. We are a small, family-run clinic that promises never to spam, share, or compromise your personal information in any way. What we do promise is one email every two months, comprising of important updates, heartwarming stories, and useful information for your pets.

Thank you for supporting our work!
