Over the last year, I’ve been thinking more about our 50 states and all of the incredible places that can be found right here in the U.S. I’ve been dreaming of exploring more of this country, from the sun-kissed beaches of Florida to red wood forests of California and everywhere in-between.
When I think of all the places that I could travel to this summer, one place in particular stands out: ALASKA!
The best time of year to visit the Great North is summer when warmer weather and long daylight hours make it possible to take in the scenery. Here are a few of my favorite reasons to visit Alaska to inspire to plan your visit this summer.
Alaska is home to Denali, the tallest mountain in North America. It’s name means “the great one” and comes from the native Koyukon people who lived in the area of the mountain for centuries. At over 20,000 feet tall, it’s one of the most beautiful sights in the state.
When taking a wildlife tour through one of Alaska’s National Parks, be sure to keep your eyes out for the Big Five: moose, bears (both black bears and grizzly bears), Dall Sheep, Caribou, and Gray Wolves. Aside from catching glimpses of wildlife, Alaskan summers are filled with wildflowers and views of the most sweeping, peaceful landscapes in the United States.
Those who have witnessed the Northern Lights often say it’s one of the most magical things they’ve ever seen. Caused by the sun interacting with the Earth’s magnetic field, this incredible phenomenon starts its season in late August, making it the perfect reason to plan your late summer Alaska trip.

DON'T SPEND ANOTYHER WINTER IN THE COLD

One thing that always makes me smile in March is the arrival of spring! With the days getting warmer, I can’t help thinking of days spent at the beach and the summer fun that is just around the corner.
This winter has seemed especially long and cold, and it reminded me of one of the things I love most about being a travel agent: helping people escape to somewhere warm! And if you’re like me, there’s no way that you want to spend another long winter at stuck at home!

With those chilly thoughts in mind, it’s time to start planning your winter sailing now! I’ve been keeping a close eye on the cruise industry, and things are looking bright for fall and winter sailings, especially in the Caribbean.

Many cruise lines have private islands in the Bahamas, like Royal Caribbean’s recently renovated Perfect Day at CocoCay and Norwegian Cruise Line’s Great Stirrup Cay. Private islands like these are going to be some of the first places ships we will sail to again.
With beach parties, activities right in port, and delicious dining options, who wouldn’t love to say that they’ve been to a private island?

The most important thing to me is making sure you can have the safe and fun experience that you are looking for. As your travel agent, I’m here not only to help you find the right cruise line and destination but to keep you informed and traveling!
Together we can plan your next sailing in the sun!
