Hi <<First Name>>!

Spring is in the air and the days are getting brighter. We hope the increasing daylight makes getting around easier and more fun. Now’s a great time to start getting outside more and walking is great for your mental health.

Check out these recommended walks in Kent from Feet First:

Green River and Interurban Trails

Follow the Green River Trail south through Riverview Park and alongside the riverbank past Foster Park to join the Interurban trail.

Green River Trail from Hogan Park

“Feet First self-guided walks over the summer and fall have been good for me to get out for fresh air and exercise. I enjoy going to different places where I may not go by myself. The COVID restrictions haven’t been much of a problem once I passed the initial shock. I can even take off my mask occasionally if nobody is around (and put it back on when I see someone coming.)” —Ikuyo

King County Metro seeks community input through route to recovery survey

In order to make the most informed service decisions for King County residents and Metro customers, Metro is seeking community feedback through a short survey on Metro’s route to recovery. Responses are due by 11:59 p.m. March 8, 2021. Your valuable input will help transit planners identify and recommend priority service changes in September 2021 and beyond.

Transportation to Vaccination Appointments

When your vaccination phase arrives and you secure an appointment, there are a number of transportation options to get you there. Please note that drive-through vaccination sites do not take walk-ups and therefore public transit will not be the best option to get to those sites. Metro’s trip planning experts are available to help you plan your customized trip Monday through Friday 6am to 8pm — Call (206) 553-3000. You can also visit the Puget Sound Trip Planner website or app.

Taxi Scrip

The Taxi Scrip Program serves low-income King County residents age 18 to 64 who have a disability or age 65 and over. Once registered, you can buy up to eight books of taxi scrip each month from Metro at a 50 percent discount to help meet your transportation needs.

Access

Older adults and people with disabilities who are unable to use the bus to get to their vaccine appointment may contact Access paratransit for a ride, even if they have not gone through the Access certification process. This service is provided as space is available. The cost is $1.75 each way and payable with cash or the Transit GO Ticket app. Call to book the ride by calling 206-553-3000.

Metro to install mask dispensers on entire bus fleet

By March 31, 2021, or sooner, Metro will install mask dispensers on its entire bus fleet of 1,404 coaches. Each dispenser will be stocked with double-layer, surgical masks from Metro’s supply of one million. These masks meet the recent, more stringent mask standards from Public Heath – Seattle & King County. Even as mask dispensers are installed on all buses, we still urge our riders to use their own masks whenever possible. Per guidance from Public Health, masks are more effective when they are multi-layered and snug-fitting.

Behind Our Masks

The new “Behind our masks” video features some of the transit employees keeping our region moving with reminders about who you help when you wear a mask.

Reminder: If you haven’t yet taken the new 2021 follow-up survey, please do! If you have already taken the follow-up survey this year, you do not need to take it again.

We hope you’ve been able to walk, bike, roll, ride transit, carpool or telework. If you took a sustainable trip at least once last week, you earn a $20 ORCA reward or an Amazon, AutoZone, REI or Safeway gift card!

Thank you for helping reduce congestion and improve air quality in South King County!
