In light of the current situation and the financial stress this pandemic has caused, we are waiving the annual fees for 2021. This also applies to any new Christian communities that would like to register to the Network. New registrations can use this link: Register – Green Churches

If you would like to make a donation, see the link near the bottom of this newsletter. Please note that if ever the annul fee becomes prohibitive, we can always make arrangements.
World Water Day
World Water Day is March 22nd, it is a day dedicated to recognizing the importance of freshwater and raising awareness for the 2.2 billion people living without access to safe water. It is also about taking action to tackle the global water crisis.  Created by the United Nations since 1993.
Water is our common wealth, our collective responsibility, a sacred gift that connects all life.

For the Love of Creation’s ‘Faith-in-Action’ campaign has begun!
For the Love of Creation's faith-in-action campaign mobilizes people across Canada to reduce their household greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and support for increased federal climate action by writing letters to key federal Cabinet Ministers on a range of climate justice issues: climate ambition, a just transition, Indigenous rights, and support for the Global South. The campaign runs until October 4, 2021.
Take Action Now!
  • Make a personal pledge to reduce your GHG emissions and engage in acts of solidarity with justice-seeking communities!
  • Share your pledge and call on federal Cabinet Ministers to commit the Government of Canada to:
  • Increase our national GHG emissions reduction target and invest in a just transition to a fair, inclusive, green economy.
  • Implement the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, including, but not limited to, the right of free, prior and informed consent.
  • Commit equal support for climate change adaptation and mitigation measures in the Global South.
The GreenFaith International Network is organizing a multifaith global day of action for ecological and climate justice on March 11th called Sacred People, Sacred Earth . With already more than 50 partner institutions on all continents, religious activists are calling for climate justice and have already mobilized hundreds of actions and events.  Join the mobilization!
At the heart of the movement, is what GreenFaith calls local "circles". These small groups (about 5 to 15 people) are local communities of people that are passionate about faith-based action on climate change and the environment.  Learn more online about the circles here!
Americana is recognized as the leading multi-sector event of its kind in North America, a biennial event organized by Réseau Environnement since 1995. Americana offers an ideal forum for technical, scientific, and business discussions regarding key issues in the environmental sector. This major industry event will take place from March 22 to March 23, 2021, online.   Final Program available here
The Ottawa Chapter of Greening Sacred Spaces (GSS) is currently running a free Energy Benchmarking Program, open to all Ottawa faith communities.  This program helps congregations take practical and cost-effective climate action decisions about their energy use and emissions by increasing awareness, tracking energy use, and assisting in energy audits and retrofits.  Learn more about Energy Benchmarking Program here and the next webinar on Ask the Experts (Energy Projects) here
Attention all photographers: we are collecting photographs of Canadian churches to be used in our publication materials.
