Olympia Medical Center announced on December 31, 2020, the hospital will be closing. All services will terminate on March 31, 2021. In just a few weeks our local hospital that first opened its doors in Miracle Mile in 1948 will no longer be a point of service for our community as an acute care facility.
The closure of this hospital is a result of a private business transaction between Alecto (former owners of Olympia) and UCLA Health (current owners). The closure of an acute care medical facility in the midst of a pandemic is particularly concerning. Click here for more details on the closure.
The California Nurses Association has organized a car rally for this Saturday, March 6th from 8 a.m. - 11 a.m. at La Brea Tar Pits Museum.
"Despite the fact that Los Angeles County is in the midst of the largest public health crisis of our time, Alecto Health Services continues to forge ahead with plans to close this hospital. We must join together and demand to keep Olympia open! Join nurses with the California Nurses Association and community members for this car rally and caravan to demand that Olympia Medical Center remain open. Please be sure to stay in your vehicle at all times, and wear a mask if your windows are rolled down. Thanks for joining this action in solidarity with nurses, patients, and our community."
