It seems as if spring has finally arrived and this edition of our newsletter is full of resources to help our students spring into action, whether that's seeking counseling services, making major decisions, exploring careers or attending salary negotiation workshops.

The Career Center is here to nurture students' career development and help them blossom into their full potential. To see them flourish, please continue to make referrals to our many career resources and services!
The MU Career Center provides a full range of counseling services for MU students, alumni, faculty members and community members. Our Career Counselors offer one-on-one, personalized, confidential counseling support. They can assist with navigating  a variety of academic and career concerns.

Our Career Counselors are available to meet with people who are located within the state of Missouri over Zoom. If you’d like to sign up for a meeting, please do so through MU Connect or by searching Career Counseling in MU Connect’s “My Success Network”.

The first meeting with a counselor is an intake appointment used to gather background information about personal, academic, and career concerns. After the initial Intake appointment, clients are assigned a counselor that they can meet with on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.

Please make student referrals as you see appropriate!
Students are actively registering for classes and this is a great time to remind them of career and major exploration resources!  We have numerous assets that can help them make decisions whether they are researching majors or post-grad career paths.

Our searchable resource platform, Mizzou Career Tools, has a series of filters students can use to find any resource tagged to a particular career topic. Just share this Careers & Majors link with students to connect them with assessments, interactive tools and helpful sites that can help them explore their options.

Please also encourage students to talk with a Career Specialist!  Our staff is ready and eager to speak with students about their interests, strengths and abilities. One-on-one conversations are ideal for career development discussions where staff can ask students helpful questions, encourage reflection and offer individualized attention. Students may take advantage of our drop-in Zoom hours (M-F, 9AM-4PM) or schedule appointment on MU Connect

Student Employment Appreciation Week

Please join us in recognizing the contributions of student employees at MU during National Student Employee Appreciation (NSEA) Week celebrated April 12th to April 18th. We look forward to filling the week with vibrancy as the MU Career Center will host virtual sessions in collaboration with departments on campus to recognize the efforts of the student employees. This week will also serve as an opportunity for employers on campus to recognize and appreciate their student employees.

Supervisors are encouraged to access the Supervisor Toolkit  and look within the ‘Appreciation’ module for additional details and suggestions of how to recognize student employees. Specific details about registering for sessions will be available in the toolkit closer to the appreciation week.
The MU Career Center will be closed over Spring Break. Students, faculty and staff may reach us by email (career@missouri.edu) or phone (573.882.6801) and virtual drop-in services will re-open Monday, April 5th at 9:00 a.m.
