Dr. Juliet Schiller, Director of Antiracist Action

Come join us as we learn about Marin Promise Partnership’s belief that every child in Marin can reach their full educational potential regardless of race, ethnicity or income. Dr. Juliet Schiller is the Director of Antiracist Action and embraces her multicultural and multiethnic identity from Fresnillo, Mexico, Wind River Tribal land and Southern Europe. Juliet has been in the field of education for nearly two decades, and was Board President for Canal Alliance and served as Vice-Chair of the Marin Human Rights Commission. In her current role, Juliet leads antiracism assessment, goal setting, and facilitation across the County. She also directs the Early Grade Literacy Team, College Readiness: “Keeping Every Door Open Team,” College and Completion Team,  and is co-developing a countywide teachers of color pipeline along with local colleges and school district partners.  To learn more, see their website  https://www.marinpromisepartnership.org/

Sermons on the Phone
There are people in our congregation and larger community who are not able to watch the worship and sermon videos.  Good news!  Starting this week, we now have Sermons by Phone.  Each week the audio recording of the scripture reading and Cynthia’s sermon will be available by simply dialing a local phone number.  You can use a landline or cell phone.  The sermon will be updated each week.  Please share this information with friends.  This is our unique number for FPCSR.

Lent Series: Wendell Berry
and the Sabbath Poetry of Lent

March 10

We will explore Berry’s poem “How long does it take to make the woods?” and his Sabbath practice of being drawn to the woods, in which Creation is always finished and always being made. Is it possible to experience “a part of eternity” here and now, “present as the world is”? Can we, as Berry suggests, “leave behind the six days’ world, all of it, all of its plans and hopes”? And where might that way lead?

Providing Food for Our Neighbors
Cents-Ability Fund

Because our congregation is not currently meeting in person, we haven't been able to make small change donations for the Cents-Ability soup pot usually collected the first Sunday of the month.  This is a special offering done by the Presbytery to use for local food ministries, food pantries, and other hunger alleviation programs.

A portion of the money collected stays in an account at FPCSR which the Mission Committee has drawn on for emergency needs.  For example, recently we were able to provide $900 to cover the cost of weekly food deliveries for six months to a local Marin County family who had no other resources.

Please make a contribution to the Cents-Ability. Checks made out to FPCSR note Cents Ability fund or using the online portal. Choose "other" and note "Cents Ability fund."

Thank you,
The Mission Committee
