1. Uncertainty factor: internal databases and information show that people who postponed their studies last year have now enrolled. Even in the context of a pandemic, uncertainty is lower. In addition, there was a 20% increase in the enrolment of people over 30 years of age, confirming the thesis that in periods of crisis people seek to improve their skills and study in technical and vocational areas.  
2. Brand factor: Marketing shows that, in times of crisis, people seek refuge in prestigious brands. Representation in the education sector and accreditation mitigate uncertainty in this respect.
3. Communication factor: Many other technical education institutions maintained their traditional campaigns appealing to prestige and quality. Duoc UC, on the other hand, was consistent with its premise of "training adaptable people". What it did was to show that at the institutional level this time we had adapted the educational process so that all students could continue their studies.

WFCP is pleased to announce the launch of a new Affinity Group, for WFCP member and affiliate institutions, focused on the area of Cyber Security.

This vital area of business and individual on-line protection has significant and increasing importance for countries, governments, educational institutions and individuals throughout the world and this new Affinity Group will bring together like-minded educationalists to share effective practice, develop joint initiatives and ensure that the global education landscape continues to keep pace with this fast-paced area of work.

To launch this affinity group WFCP and Burton and South Derbyshire College in the UK will be hosting a webinar to engage interested institutions and individuals in membership of the Affinity Group. We have secured two well renowned experts and thought leaders in the area of Cyber Security who will engage the webinar audience through giving an oversight of their own professional journeys, the latest trends in this area and how educational institutions can develop efficacy in this field. This really is an opportunity to hear from world-renowned speakers on a subject that has an ever-increasing importance to WFCP members. Can you afford to miss this opportunity?

Guest Presenter: Rob May, Managing Director of ramsac

Rob May is an international Cybersecurity spokesperson, an alumni and Patron of WFCP member Burton and South Derbyshire College (BSDC) and a pending Fellow. He will give a short briefing on his career journey, which started at BSDC and then explain the industry challenges and why the subject of Cybersecurity is an issue that concerns us all.

Guest Presenter: Dr. John Sands, Department Chair / Program Coordinator Information Technology, Moraine Valley Community College

Dr. John Sands a Professor of Information Technology and Department Chair at Moraine Valley Community College. He has vast experience in teaching and developing curriculum and is the Executive Director for the CSSIA. He has an extensive, successful and award winning record of accomplishment in developing and delivering curricula in the area of Cyber Security. Dr Sands will highlight the major educational trends globally within this field and will provide insight into how, throughout his career, he has successfully created provision to overcome these challenges.

• Allow those interested to connect and work together to advance the voice of Indigenous people and rid the Academy of systemic barriers that have long marginalised Indigenous learners,
• Provide input on advocacy priorities and positions related to Indigenous education and skills development,
• Act as a forum to enable leaders and Indigenous education practitioners of associations, institutes and affiliates committed to professional and technical education and training (PTET) to support each other and build capacity to serve Indigenous learners and communities in every country,
• Advise on the issues related to Indigenous education in PTET around the world and provide input on position and research papers related to Indigenous education and skills development, and
• Identify recommendations to the WFCP membership on how to advance Indigenous education in PTET, provide guidance for the development of Indigenous education events and meetings, and promote the role of PTET in Indigenous education.

This month’s meeting will focus on The SDG Accord with a presentation from Teodora Axente, the Communications and Membership Officer with EAUC – The Alliance for Sustainability in Education.  The Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges (EAUC) exists to lead and empower the post-16 education sector to make sustainability 'just good business' and believe that education is at the heart of global sustainability. In doing so, EAUC is at the heart of a range of global initiatives, most recently and notably The SDG Accord, the Global Climate Letter and the well-established International Green Gown Awards.  

Learn more about the SDG Accord and the role it has in inspiring, celebrating and advancing the critical role that education has in delivering the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and how your institution could benefit from becoming a signatory.  

Breakout room discussions will again follow the presentation to allow for meaningful conversations and sharing opportunities.  

Continued engagement and discussion after the meeting will occur in the UNESCO-UNEVOC TVET Forum.
