PAWS For The Latest

February 2021 News & Events From Centre County PAWS

A Note From Our Executive Director

I’m looking forward to seeing you all virtually on March 19 for our Virtual Pajama Party! You can read all about it below. Until then, we’ll stay busy rescuing dogs and cats! This month, we have already received our first orphaned kitten, dubbed Alaska. His mom was also brought to PAWS and we’re told this was her third litter. She’ll now be spayed and find a permanent indoor home. Alaska is in the skilled hands of one of our Bottle Baby fosters and doing well so far.
Centre County’s volunteer Humane Enforcement Officer reached out to us last week about 2 dogs living together in a crate. Thankfully, they were voluntarily surrendered and brought to PAWS. It was clear they were starving not just for food but for human affection. We named them Francine and Beans and got started slowly helping them heal. Francine had a secret surprise for us, though; she is carrying 5 puppies! Now both are in foster and we’re waiting anxiously for the puppies' arrival!
When animals come to PAWS, we breathe a sigh of relief knowing they are now safe. Kittens like Alaska and dogs like Francine and Beans needed to be rescued. Because of you, we were able to be there for them immediately . Thank you for your continued support.

With Gratitude,

Lisa Bahr
Executive Director

40th Anniversary Memorial Patio

LAST CALL to add your brick in time for the PAWS Patio groundbreaking. You will be able to add to this patio for years to come, but time is winding down to be a part of the inaugural showcase. This is your opportunity to not only help PAWS raise imperative funds but also to commemorate your involvement and individual journey with Centre County PAWS.

There are many different options for your engraved brick - click here for more information and to make your mark on our new outdoor patio. Email our Events Manager (alicia@centrecountypaws.org) with any questions. Our goal is to sell 300 bricks, in order to begin the building process in the spring. We look forward to enjoying this unique space with all of you in the near future!

Employee and Volunteer Spotlights

Read about Colin, our Medical Manager. He’s an important member of the PAWS team who ensures our dogs and cats are medically sound and ready for adoption.

Bronnie is our Volunteer of the Month. You can read more about her and her love of fostering kittens, especially the timid ones who need extra attention.

Our Executive Director Lisa Bahr recently wrote about her experiences with rescue growing up and how that relates to what she’s doing now at PAWS.

Help From Home

Current Needs List - You can help from home by shopping from our list of most needed and essential items from our Amazon Wishlist, like canned cat food, bird seed, bleach, and paper towels. If you have not yet selected a charity through Amazon Smile, please select Centre County PAWS! We are also happy to share that we now have a Chewy Wishlist!

Save Those Bags - We go through a lot of plastic bags while caring for our animals every day. If you find you have a lot around the house, we’ll take them off your hands. Feel free to drop them off in our donation bin at PAWS any time. Since they’re used for waste cleanup, it is greatly appreciated if you check them for holes before bringing them to us, too!

Happy Tails

Maggie (now Tori) is living the good life with her big, fun family!
Felicia (cat) was found as a stray and brought to PAWS to be spayed and medically cared for. She was with us for just 2 weeks when she met her new dad and convinced him to bring her home!
Dollop was adopted after a year with PAWS! She worked with her Pet Partners on behavioral training and then met the perfect person who will continue her training in her new forever home.
