Hello everyone!

Hope you all are doing well. With the month of February coming to an end, we have set our sights on spring and an annual beer event like none other; March Mildness! For those of you who are unfamiliar, March Mildness is a citywide event where we pay tribute to Seattle's own English Ale centric Machine House Brewing and their flagship Dark Mild Ale.

In years past, March Mildness was conducted as a citywide contest between participating establishments and their patrons to see who could drink the most Mild in the month of March and be crowned champion of cask ale consumption. Longtime TBJ faithful may recall a poster in our bar adorned with stickers tracking the front runners. Unfortunately, some people (I'm looking at you, Jensen) took the contest a little too seriously and Machine House had to scale back the contest to temper the competitive fire of it's participants. As impressive as that tally is, there were others in our fair city outpacing him.

This year's March Mildness will be conducted in the spirit of tradition rather than contest. With bars hampered by Covid related restrictions for on-premises service, March Mildness 2021 will obviously be much more an at-home affair. Do not fret, however, as we will still be here to facilitate the festivities as best we can! Starting next week, you can swing by to purchase your very own Machine House Cask Ale to go bag-in-box style. Pictured here (it's an old post, just offering an example) be the first to ring in March Mildness with a proper Imperial Pint of this lovely, roasty ode to English Brewing tradition. Keep your eyes out on our social media feed for this heralded new arrival next week!

Finally, if you are more partial to Belgian Ales than those of their U.K. brethren, mark your calendars for Orval 2021 on March, 30th. Look for more tidbits on this in next week's newsletter.

Cheers!

We are open for *LIMITED* indoor seating!

Bar Rules
  1. Table service only. In other words; do not attempt to order your drinks at the bar. We have placed QR-code links to our Live Taplist on each table so that you may survey the menu prior to ordering. Our bartenders will check on each table periodically to replenish your drinks.
  2. Please check-in with the bartender in order to be seated. We may or may not have a party that is ahead of you or need a moment to sanitize a table prior to seating you. Sorry; no reservations allowed at this time.
  3. Your mask must be worn anytime you are not seated at your table. Are you standing up? Then your mask is securely on your face. No exceptions.
  4. Parties are limited to a maximum of 6 per table and 90 minutes of service per group.
Just a reminder to everyone that we offer contactless-curbside pick up via our Web Store. Choose from over 200+ Items, pay online via Credit Card, and park in the back parking lot or our designated Pick-Up Priority Space (pictured above) and call the store; one of our team members will bring your order out to you. Weekly Beer History + Fun Facts

I'd like to take a quick departure from my weekly Beer History column to highlight some uplifting news in our local beer community. We've all loathed to see the closure of bars, restaurants, breweries, and businesses of all kinds due to the pandemic, but even under the most harrowing of circumstances a few plucky businesses are opening their doors rather than closing them. Stoup Brewing is partnering with a local restaurant group to open a new taproom in Kenmore (target opening date is still TBD) that will feature a full menu of food options to accompany Stoup's fantastic draft beer options. Bale Breaker Brewing and Yonder Cider are partnering to bring their Yakima Valley brands to Ballard in the space formerly occupied by Populuxe Brewing. Again, target opening date is a little murky, but they are aiming for this Summer. Hopefully, with vaccinations on the rise and a return to some facsimile of normalcy finally on the horizon, we can all raise a pint to these intrepid entrepreneurs and their fine products in the months to come.

Prost!
