Eating Disorders Awareness Week is 1st to 7th March!

Activities in Eating Disorders Week

BEAT

UK Eating Disorder Charity, BEAT, have lots of activities happening and digital resources to help you mark the week! 

BEAT will be running two eating disorder workshops aimed at education and healthcare professionals. To find out more and book a space, visit: There is an eating disorder awareness talk which focuses on dispelling some of the common myths and misconceptions around eating disorders.

MHM Wales

MHM Wales currently deliver an online peer to peer eating disorders support group for people with all types of eating disorders including their carers, families and friends.

Local Support

Mental Health Training for Volunteers in RCT

10 organisations are currently providing a range of mental health training for volunteers. There are 27 subjects from anxiety to telephone befriending training.

Early Help Hub

Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council are offering support, information and advice to families with children aged between 0 to 18. They can assist with a range of support in several areas including:
  • education
  • housing
  • parenting
  • wellbeing

BeActive RCT

Physical activity can be so good for your mental health and wellbeing. BeActive RCT delivers a range of activities in the community to help enable people to adopt healthier lifestyles.

Arts Factory

Arts Factory Active Inclusion Project aims to help support people aged 25+ who have been unemployed for 12 months or more with employability skills.

New Horizons

New Horizons continue to offer a series of online mental health and wellbeing support from peer support groups to virtual walking tours around the world.

Gilfach Goch Community Association

GGCA are offering support for those who feel isolated and lonely, need some support, or just fancy a friendly chat.

GGCA offer a wide range of support from self care sessions to emergency food hampers. Also they are currently offering activity packs to help maintain positive mental health.

CTM Mental Health Scoping Exercise

Cwm Taf PSB (Public Services Board) are completing a scoping exercise of mental health provision across Cwm Taf Morgannwg. They would be interested in speaking to voluntary organisations, community groups and individuals who have accessed services to understand the current situation, likely challenges and long term support and requirements.

Third Sector Mental Health Forum

Don’t forget there is a Third Sector Mental Health Forum for voluntary organisations and community groups who deliver mental health services or have an interest in mental health.

Samaritans Cymru

Samaritans Cymru have published a new report, The Right Support At The Right Time? Improving the Availability and Quality of Support after Self-harm in Wales.

The report brings together insights from people with lived experience of self-harm, stakeholders, service-providers and the general public to understand the support needs of people who have self-harmed and identify opportunities to improve the quality of support available.
