Legislative & Vets Day on Hill
Greetings all,

The state legislative session is underway, and that means DAV MN has been active in advocating for Minnesota's Veterans during the process. This session is something far different from anything I have experienced in the past 6 years doing legislative work for the DAV. None of the hearings are being held in person, everything is Zoom. There is one major upside to this, it puts all of us on a level playing field. If you are from Greater Minnesota, you have just as much access to testify, or attend a hearing as the usually heavily represented Metro area.

The session started with DAV MN having an opportunity to present who we are as an organization to the House and Senate Veterans Affairs Committees. This is always a highlight for me, as I enjoy the opportunity to share what we as an organization do to make an impact in the lives of Minnesota's Veterans, their families, and survivors. I strongly encourage every chapter to do something similar, and have one member (hopefully your BPTL) contact the Representatives and Senators who represent your area and let them know who DAV is locally.

Urgent Request from Mpls VAMC
Sweatpants – most needed in Medium, Large, and Extra-Large sizes, drawstring waist preferred.  We are out of donated sweatpants in these sizes.  Medium, Large, and Extra-Large are the most requested sizes.  Receiving 20-30 pairs of each size of new sweatpants would ensure the dignity of the Veteran patient in need of clothing.

Sweatpants – Small, 2XL, 3XL, 4Xl are in very low stock.  These sizes are not requested often, but it makes a difference to the Veteran in need if we have their size available.  Receiving 5-10 new pairs of sweatpants in each of these sizes would resupply our donated stock.

To deliver donations, please call 612-467-2050 for a delivery appointment.  Voluntary Service staff will meet curbside at the Main Entrance to the Minneapolis VA Medical Center to receive the donation.
Thank you for your continued support of the Veterans served through the Minneapolis VA Health Care System. For questions please contact us at vhaminvol@va.gov or 612-467-2050.

Sincerely, Voluntary/Community Resource Service,  Minneapolis VA Health Care System

In observance of National Vietnam War Veterans Day coming up on March 29th, we want to honor those who served. We will be creating a collage of photos featuring Minnesota DAV members who are veterans of the Vietnam War, which will be shared on our Facebook page.

If you are a Vietnam veteran interested in participating, please send in a photo from your service. You can send them directly to Madeline Williams via email at madeline@snowglobepr.com. You can also reach out to her if you have any questions. Please have your submissions sent in by Monday, March 22nd. Thank you!
