An Act of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus,
I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things,
and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if You were already there
and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You.

Amen.

PRAYERS FOR THE VICTIMS OF ABUSE are being offered in many Dioceses throughout Canada during the Lenten season. In the Diocese of Hamilton we have set aside the Second Sunday of Lent for prayer for the victims of abuse and their families. As a Church, we are committed to the protection of children and the vulnerable in our communities, and to bringing about healing in the lives of those who have suffered from the scourge of abuse.

Together for Peace
During Lent, Development, and Peace – Caritas Canada invites you to take part in their new Share Lent campaign:  Together for Peace.  This campaign calls on us to reflect on the profound meaning of peace by discovering the importance of dialogue as a means for reconciliation and for the construction of peace.  Together, let us continue to believe that peace, human dignity, and justice can triumph.
Peacemaking calls for courage, much more so than warfare.  It calls for the courage to say yes to encounter and no to conflict; yes to dialogue and no to violence; yes to negotiations and no to hostilities; yes to respect for agreements and no to acts of provocation; yes to sincerity and no to duplicity.  All of this takes courage, it takes strength and tenacity.  (Pope Francis, June 8/14)
Suggestion:  consider putting aside at least one dollar a day to help Development and Peace. May the long-standing support of our parish and its concern for the poor continue to grow stronger in our community.  Scripture reminds us that our good deeds go with us into eternity.
Oil and Salt
Canadian Food
for Children
This year we are collecting oil and iodized salt.  Oil is an essential item for hundreds of millions of poor people around the world. It is too expensive, however, for the poorest families to buy.   A deficiency in salt can lead to death from heatstroke or an enlarged thyroid gland which decreases energy and strength.  As well, pregnant mothers lacking iodized salt in their diets put their babies at risk of mental disability.  Please bring your items to the church in a reusable cloth bag.  Your donations can be given to the ushers before entering the church up to and including Palm Sunday (March 28) or please leave in the vestibule.  Donations can also be dropped off at the parish office.

WEEK 2: FEBRUARY 22 TO 28, 2021

Share Love, Share Lent: Solidarity with communities in crises.

Did you know that Development and Peace provides humanitarian aid to communities coping with climate change, conflict, and natural disasters in over a dozen countries?

This week, the Share Love, Share Lent campaign looks at how your solidarity is meaningful for Rohingya refugees and their host communities in Bangladesh.

Please pray for communities affected by crises and help us to keep supporting them by contributing to the collection on the Fifth Sunday of Lent.

Living Rosary for March 2021

Our Lady of Lourdes Small Faith Group invites you to join its members in praying the living rosary for the needs of the parish and the community.  For March 2021, we pray for
 (1) people who do not have access to clean drinking water. Water systems are stressed by climate change, natural disaster, and human error. May God protect, purify, and multiply water sources.

In addition, we will keep in our prayers,
(2) the Pope’s monthly intention:
Sacrament of Reconciliation - Let us pray that we may experience the sacrament of reconciliation with renewed depth, to taste the infinite mercy of God.

(3) the sick and their caregivers, and
(4) the living and deceased members of our parish.

By volunteering, you will be responsible to say one decade of the mystery of the Rosary every day for the coming month.  If you are interested, please sign-up here.
