Sad Bastard Music Club

Volume 15

So. 2020.

Yeah, that's all we need to say about that.

I write this the week that the new Nick Cave & Warren Ellis album, CARNAGE, is available and it's almost too bad that I already had a Sad Bastard playlist ready to go. Oh well, you can give it a spin while you're waiting for the next SBM playlist.

Speaking of sad bastards, did you know there's a Sad Bastard podcast? There is, and it has absolutely nothing to do with me. See, it turns out that being a sad bastard isn't just a me thing, there are actual other sad bastards! And one of them is the creator of @nickcaveandthebadmemes and @sadpeaks and he now has a Sad Bastard podcast that you can check out if podcasts are your thing.

It's been a hard year all around. While we may be starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel with regard to this pandemic, who knows when we'll "return to normal" or even what "normal" is anymore. It's been so long that I've almost forgotten what a "normal" existence even means, but I do see the effects of isolation and loneliness all around me. We're all a little bit more sad bastard these days. And as such, it's important to remember the humans that are on the other end of these screens that connect us to one another. To remember to approach each encounter with patience and assumption of good intent, but to also take care of ourselves to remove ourselves from toxic situations if it comes to that. In the words of Brian W. Foster, "don't forget to love each other."
