SeaTac has awarded two grants to Gorge projects: 

Skamania County Chamber will be adding new itinerary pages to their annual visitors guide.

And Mt Adams Chamber (in partnership with Washougal, Skamania Chamber and CGTA) will be launching Food Trails in the West to mirror the East Gorge Food Trail

Galvan (Ohlone, Bay Miwok, Plains Miwok and Patwin Indian) was named the curator of San Francisco’s famed Old Mission Dolores in 2004, he became the first American Indian to oversee a California Mission. At the time, he joked he wanted to hang a banner in front of the Mission that read “Under New Management.”

Workshop: Enhance Your Bottom Line Through Tourism-Related Vendors | March 24 at 2:30pm

Join Travel Oregon, Oregon Outfitter & Guide Association, Adventure Travel Trade Association and Oregon’s professional tour operators, guides and outfitters (TOGO) on Wednesday, March 24 for an online forum: "Enhance Your Bottom Line Through Tourism-Related Vendors."

This workshop will help increase awareness of valuable partnership opportunities. Intended key learnings include:
  • Working with hotels and reserving hotel rooms: common practices, wording and expectations.
  • Working with other sectors of the tourism industry: common practices, wording and expectations.
  • Increasing profit of tour products through these connections.
  • Developing creative ways to highlight these connections in marketing materials.

Travel Oregon Competitive & Recovery Grants Program Applications accepted until March 31 at 5 p.m.


Travel Oregon believes improved infrastructure is needed to enhance and expand the visitor experience over both the short and long-term and that these enhancements can help in economic recovery efforts. To support this Travel Oregon is offering a Competitive & Recovery Grants Program.Total funding available for the Competitive & Recovery Grants program is $2.3 million. Read the complete Grant Guidelines to see eligibility requirements, funding parameters and application questions. Two positions open on state bike/ped advisory committee

Applications must be submitted before March 31, 2021 to be considered in the first review.  

The Oregon Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee is seeking a new at-large member and a member representing a recognized environmental group to advise the Oregon Department of Transportation on bicycle and pedestrian issues across the state.

Application Portal Expected to Open in Late March for $240 Million in Grants for Businesses in Need 

Governor Inslee signed House Bill 1368, which allocates $240,000,000 of the general fund for additional grants to small businesses through the Department of Commerce's Working Washington grant program, with an application portal expected to open in late March. Grants of up to $75,000 will help businesses maintain operations and reopen businesses that were temporarily closed due to the Governor's "Stay Home, Stay Healthy" order.
 
The bill provides $150,000,000 to help businesses maintain their operations and $90,000,000 to assist the reopening of businesses that temporarily totally closed their operations. Nonprofit organizations may be eligible to receive funding under if they have a primary business activity that has been impacted.

In this session we will learn about the most recent stimulus package, traditional and alternative capital options, financing strategies, how to create competitive funding requests, and more! 
 

Taking Your Business Online

  • April 14, 2021 (9:00 am – 11:00 am) in partnership with Sherman County and the Condon Chamber

Whether you sell a product or service, learn ways to overcome impacts of COVID-19 but taking your business online. This course will cover online tools to help you do business virtually such as Team Chat Apps, Video Conferencing, Password Managers, G Suite, Time Tracking, and more.

Sense of Place Lectures Announces Request for Proposals, Season 12

 
The Sense of Place Lectures, a program of Mt. Adams Institute, has announced a Request for Proposals for its 12th season, which will run during the fall/winter, 2021-2022. The popular program connects people through place and storytelling, using the Columbia River Gorge as its common ground. Presentations run 45-60 minutes on topics that relate to the cultural, natural, or political history of the Columbia River Gorge. Selections will be made by a volunteer committee led by Sense of Place Host & Curator, Sarah Fox, a Hood River resident and producer of Hear in the Gorge, the podcast partner to Sense of Place.
