Issues impacting international education are at the center of national debate. Our voices are more essential than ever – on campus, in our communities, and on Capitol Hill.

Join us at the next One World \ One Northwestern event to learn about advocacy and critical issues in the field, scaling your advocacy strategy to fit your unique context, developing methods for accountability and self-care, and building a network of advocates across the university.

Speakers:
  • Jennifer Kunde (Executive Director, Government Relations) will describe how Northwestern advocates on behalf of international education at the institutional level in Washington DC and how staff members can support those efforts.
  • Emlyn Torres (International Student and Scholar Advisor, Office of International Student and Scholar Services (OISS); NAFSA Region V Advocacy Coordinator; and 2016 NAFSA Advocate of the Year) will present the concept of advocacy and the many strategies we can use in our advocacy work.
  • Sara McGuinn (Senior Study Abroad Program Manager, Global Learning Office; and Chair, International Educators of Illinois), and Stephanie Cisneros (International Student Advisor, OISS; and NUSAC member) will share their advocacy experiences.
One World \ One Northwestern (OWON) events are intended to build community among staff members interested in sharing and learning about Northwestern's international activities, partnerships, and work processes. If you know of a Northwestern staff member, who has not received this invitation but would benefit from attending OWON events, feel free to forward this email.

Questions about this event or the OWON initiative? Contact Kim Rapp, Assistant Vice President for International Relations.
