Good Morning,
Dr. Lucero shared big news yesterday evening in her weekly communication announcing that elementary and middle schools will be working to return hybrid students to school 5 days per week.  The plan is to have elementary schools begin returning their hybrid students on March 8th and middle schools will begin implementation of a 5-day return beginning on March 15th.

At Ripp, we have already begun our planning to safely accommodate all of our hybrid students in the building 5 days per week.  Our planning follows the CDC guidelines and I have been working with the Associate Superintendent that oversees Ripp to get guidance from the Department of Health (DOH) as needed.  Internally, I have been working with my Instructional Leadership Team to identify considerations and revisions that are necessary from an educational perspective to best serve the increased student capacity in the building.  Additionally, I have been working with our custodial team to develop a plan to safely arrange classrooms to be in compliance with CDC guidelines and to have desks and other furniture moved from storage locations back into classrooms.

Please know that we will continue with the CDC recommended mitigation strategies that include  wearing masks, maintaining established social distancing to the greatest extent possible, using barriers as necessary, and focusing on proper hand hygiene.  Our cleaning protocols will remain in place as well as guidelines on how to operate our ventilation systems during the COVID-19 pandemic.  It should also be noted that contact tracing, isolation, and quarantine protocols will continue and will be adjusted as needed to accommodate full in-person learning.  We will continue to work with our DOH to review our COVID-19 data regularly and are prepared to make adjustments in our educational model immediately, if necessary.

Although this announcement primarily impacts hybrid students, our planning also includes students in DTLA.  At this time, we will not be permitting students to move from DTLA back into the building, however, I will be working with our Instructional Leadership Team to determine what if any DTLA programming adjustments need to be made.

More information will be communicated in the coming week as the furniture gets moved and planning details are worked out.
