As part of this, our team has organised the Ethnically Diverse Therapists Connection Hui Facebook Group. Currently, there are 23 members, the group's mission is to keep connecting, keep reaching out, and Keep Encouraging one another. We invite you to join us!

SuperSHEro - Free Confidence Workshops

We want more ethnic women on decision-making processes and aware of our rights. We know that many migrant and refugee women face lack of work and social support, difficulties in the migration process, a loss of status and identity, while shouldering most of the work at home and childcare.

These factors may trigger lack of self-esteem, empowerment and motivation to give their best as new members of New Zealand society. But we know as well, that these women have incredible abilities to offer to their community. However, the lack of self-esteem often affects their mental well-being and limits their abilities to grow on a personal and professional level. Some causes such as isolation, loneliness, language skills, and migration experiences, have hindered progress for these women to become empowered.

Shama is offering workshops on self-confidence that involve a life-coach delivering a 5 hour session to build skills to unleash your inner SuperSHEro! Each workshop can stand on its own, enabling the participant to learn strategies in gaining confidence.

The sessions are held in simple English, with plenty of interactive visual aids that are easy to understand.

Topics for upcoming workshops:
April 10th – Routine and Structure | May 8th – Maori Spirituality | June 12th – Manifesting / Goal setting | July 10th – Final Session

Lunch is provided (dietary options available.) Please register for the April Workshop on Routine and Structure as soon as possible, any questions contact supportworker@shama.org.nz.
