Le Passé
In January I participated in the project led by Litzic called "un auteur/un musicien" where a musician (me!) was sent an original poem and I was tasked to put it to song and record it. This hasn't been mixed and mastered but I'm proud of the bilingual song I ended up creating thanks to Sy Ly's poetry and am hoping to get it polished soon. I've not shared this with anyone apart from my mum yet so I do hope you give it a listen! J'veux des frissons demo.
I had loads of fun celebrating Galentine's Day by releasing Katerina Leah and mine's video cover of Enough is enough. Nothing soothes the soul like a bit of disco! Enough is enough on Youtube.
My first ever collaboration was released on Valentines Day. It's a track called The Notebook and it features the American rapper 6 Wheelz. We met online, decided to write a song about past regrets, and the rest is history! You can stream it here: The Notebook on Spotify.
Le Présent
I have FINALLY set up my own version of a home-studio as well as continued polishing my home-recording knowledge so that sooner than later my vocals will come out crystal clear - which I'm really looking forward to!
I've tried (sometimes better than others) to keep to strict weekly schedule of song writing, keyboard practice and vocal warmups alongside collaborations and cover videos.
I've decided not to release one single per quarter but rather to focus most of my efforts on song writing until 31 March. Then I'll see what I have and decide what to do with the top songs!
This week commencing 1 March I am participating in a week long song writing retreat lead by Chris Difford, who has written songs for Squeeze, Elton John, Wet Wet Wet and Elvis Costello among many others. Wish me luck as I'm feeling quite starstruck!!!!!
You can tell Spring is on its way as I was having an ICE CREAM with a FLAKE in a PARK with no coat on yesterday!
Le Futur
Guess what - my boyfriend Bill and I are moving into our own flat at the end of this month! I'm so excited as it's the first time I'll truly have a space of my own. I'm also hoping I'll be able to sing to my hearts content without fear of annoying flatmates. So hopefully lots more singing and music and creating from my end.
I look forward to sharing some new songs with the world soon too, I just want to make sure they're the best of the batch - I have a LOT of ideas and they're not all good!
And of course, everything is gearing up towards the song writing MA that starts this October.
