During this season, annual roundups are typically held. The family took this photo in 2020 at the Maxwell Ranch. Brandings are weather dependent, particularly the rain season. Moulton Ranch cattle had an "LM" insignia for Lewis Moulton. This brand was registered to the California Brand Book and inherited by Louise Moulton. It is still used to this day by the family. |

Captain George Huddy and his wife, Elizabeth, of El Toro

Captain and Mrs. Huddy arrived in 1893. According to Janet Whitcomb, they purchased land in El Toro, modern day Lake Forest, from Dwight Whiting. Huddy built a home "up on a knoll adjacent to Aliso Road, then planted his place to apricots, walnuts, peaches and apples." |

Charlotte Moulton recalled in Orange County History Series, Volume 2 (1932) that "Captain and Mrs. Huddy were the last to go, removing to Orange about 1919. The older citizens of El Toro have fond memories of the Captain’s sea-going tales, of Mrs. Huddy’s afternoon teas, and her annual Easter Egg hunt for all the children of the community."

City of Laguna Hills | Exhibition

Visit their ongoing exhibition at the Laguna Hills Civic Center at 24035 El Toro Road | Laguna Hills, CA 92653. There are six life-sized terra cotta busts in the lobby. They feature Orange County pioneers. The Saddleback Valley landowners operated cattle ranches in our rolling hills. These busts were created with adobe clay by T.J. Dixon and James Nelson.

Moulton Museum's Featured Collection

Virginia Anne Wood, a former Laguna Beach resident and teacher, had a local theater collection. Her daughter, Tori Ellis, donated Laguna Playhouse ephemera to the museum. This included the featured October 18, 1980 signed print by renowned cartoonist Phil Interlandi. Her family donated a series of playbills which have been digitized.
