Prepare, Pivot and Perform

If we learnt anything from the last 12 months, it was to be flexible, adapt and carry on as best we can. Taking some time to stop, breathe deeply and process the changes as they happened were some of the helpful strategies used to cope with the ever changing restrictions, rules and the impacts they had on our lives.

Exercise was instrumental in keeping sanity, structure and routine in our lives as well as a little endorphin kick to lighten the mood.

Some clients managed to stay committed to our Zoom class offerings and we applaud your engagement and enthusiasm.  Others were desperate to come back to our practices for the hands-on care and expert exercise instruction that you have grown to love and appreciate from the Spring Physio Gym and Kooyong Physiotherapy Centre teams.

In 2021 we all need to:
PREPARE our bodies for the year ahead
PIVOT around any obstacles thrown in our way,
PERFOM at the best of our ability.

Coming Together

Spring Physio Gym and Kooyong Physiotherapy Centre have always been closely linked with the same directors and staff that work across both practices.  Both have a commitment to excellent clinical care and individually targeted exercise programs delivered with expertise and empathy.

It is now time to bring them under a common brand, so you will see the “SPRING PHYSIO GROUP” name associated with Kooyong Physiotherapy Centre.  Nothing else will change but we are excited to formalise the relationship.

New Staff Members

We are delighted to welcome our 2 new physiotherapists to our team, Christian Masson-Moyle and Elliot Fabris. The boys will work across both practices and provide some welcome gender balance to our staff!

We also welcome the lovely Emma Cullen, myotherapist, whose soothing hands will melt away all your tension and worries.

PREPARE and SET your 2021 Goals

It is really important to set yourself some health and wellness goals for the year, or else it can pass you by in a flash and we wonder, where did the year go, and what have I accomplished?

It may be as simple as:  Walk every day, or Improve my balance to prevent falls or Complete a Triathlon or Run 5km but writing down your goals will help motivate you to perform your regular exercise routines.

“PIVOT” was the buzz word of 2020 and we need to be flexible to “pivot” around obstacles put in our way and still find other ways to work towards achieving our goals.

Injury (past & current) and lack of movement or strength are common obstacles to achieving physical goals. Lockdown restrictions, changes to work environments and general tension/anxiety have significantly impacted the physical health of many of our clients. Our team can help you navigate your way to achieving your goals, through appropriate short term goal setting, rehabilitation and expert advice.

Make an appointment for a 1:1 consultation or check out our classes below to help you achieve your goals.

PERFORM: ROWING CORE STRENGTH

Improving Posture for Performance

The 2021 School and Club Rowing Season is off with bang, with some great early regattas completed and school rowing programs in full swing.  Early season form is starting to show who worked hard through 2020 lockdowns and now their hard work will be recognized in racing.  Master rowers should be gearing up for hopefully an uninterrupted season ahead.

Spring Physio Gym’s team of Rowing Australia Preferred Provider Physios have produced a short
Core Strength for Rowing video to improve posture, performance efficiency and injury prevention through the season including:

6 exercises, 1 min of each, 3 levels of Challenge,
REPEAT x 2

PERFORM: GET READY FOR 2021 FOOTY SEASON

With Pre-Season Strength Training

As we approach the 2021 community footy season it is essential, more than any other year, to be well prepared and do a thorough pre-season preparation.  Combined with the cancelled 2020 season and our kids spending a lot more time indoors on devices than out on the field, they will need to develop fitness, strength and flexibility prior to the season ahead both for injury prevention and performance.  With roughly 6 weeks to go before the season starts, now is the time to implement this Pre-Season Program.

Our team at Spring Physio Gym have developed a video demonstrating an example of a well balanced Pre-Season Workout including:

5 minute Dynamic Warm Up
10 Strength Exercises

Prepare, Pivot and Perform to meet the challenges ahead!
