Welcome to Vol 2 Issue 3 of DH News: The Dog House!

I'm about to rush off to seven hours of classes -- Mondays are my busiest day -- so the preamble will be short.

Big news last month was Perseverance's fantastic landing on Mars to search for life. How cool is it when you film your own pinpoint landing?

We've had sparrows hang out in our neighborhood all winter -- they seem to know how to keep themselves warm in the frigid temps, by both huddling and fluffing up their feathers. See a note about them inside. But yesterday I heard and then saw a cardinal, brilliant red against the overcast sky, so I'm taking him as the first sign of spring around here. I'm sure the robins won't be far behind.

I discovered an amazing bird online, a potoo and you can learn all about it in the short video link posted inside.

There's also news on the rights of nature and dark sky reserves -- good news indeed.

If you know of conservation, nature or science news that should be included next month, do let me know. And if you have a reaction to anything inside, just drop me an email. It's great to hear from you.

I appreciate your reading. You can download The Dog House  at the link below – grab a cup of coffee or tea – it’s meant to be read slowly. And feel free to share it.

Many thanks,
Daniel
