The official start of Spring this month (yay!) is joined by numerous celebratory “days” including Pi day, St. Patrick’s day, and National Puppy Day. Well, we in HUIT AT have a few notable “days” to point out for our platforms as well. Qualtrics will be releasing significant user interface updates starting March 31, with more details coming soon. Security updates, testing out new features, and preparing for the mid-to-end of term will surely help occupy many of March’s other days.

Zoom Updates for Teaching & Learning 
- New & enhanced features:
- When non-video participants are hidden, the custom gallery view order can still be used. Then when a non-video participant turns on their video, it appears in the bottom-right corner of the last page of gallery view.
- When sharing content, a notification displays over the shared content. This clarifies what is being shared and when participants are able to see it.
- Bug fixes:
- Fixed an issue that removed alternative hosts from recurring meetings if there wasn't a set time.
- Resolved an issue for a subset of users in chat, where screenshots disappeared before sending.

In Production 
- In the Gradebook, the View menu includes the View Ungraded as Zero option, which allows instructors to view student grades as if all ungraded assignments were worth zero points. Admins can disable this under Feature Options in the account settings.
- The Gradebook importer allows instructors to modify override scores via Gradebook CSV imports.
- The RCE includes a pretty HTML editor in addition to the raw HTML editor.
- There is new guidance on supporting large file submissions using available tools in conjunction with Canvas.

Security updates
“Act As A User”
We will be making changes to the way admins can masquerade as other users. Instead of having continuous access to the masquerade function, admins will use a new tool to temporarily assume a role that allows them to use it for 60 minutes. We will be in touch with school liaisons and Canvas Admins with more details before the tool is released.
Two-factor authentication
We will be requiring the new two-factor authentication (2FA) option for all administrative accounts in the ExEd instance of Canvas. We’ll be in touch with school liaisons with the list of ExEd admins at each school for review prior to outreach to the admins.
HarvardKey Light
Over the next few months, we’ll be working to integrate the ExEd instance of Canvas with HarvardKey Light. Canvas will initially support both native accounts and these new Harvard Keys. We’ll be scheduling a meeting with the ExEd liaisons to share a prototype, the timeline, and the expected user impact. In the meantime, start to familiarize yourself with the soon-to-be-launched HarvardKey Light service, which will also serve as a replacement for XID functionality.

 New app for Microsoft Teams: users can now create and gather responses using multiple choice polls without leaving Teams. Gather live feedback while collaborating with teammates in chats and conversations.- A refreshed integration with Office 365: users can now create, manage, and customize activities without leaving PowerPoint using the Add-in menu.
- If you are a Slack user, Poll Everywhere is one of HUIT’s approved apps for Slack.

 Qualtrics has announced a new user interface to be rolled out in the next few months, beginning in late March and enforced at the end of May. Details, including the expected timeline, are posted in the IT Help portal and will be updated there as we receive them.
Recent feature updates:
- New Extract Data from Salesforce Task allows users with the Salesforce integration to import data from their Salesforce instance into Qualtrics.
- Survey Title and Meta Description: This feature can now be translated. (Will be called “display name and description” in the new Survey Editor.)
- Response Weighting: there is a new front-end to the Response Weighting feature. There is no change to existing weighting configurations that are already in use. Enhancements include improved reporting, categorization, and a guided workflow.

 Zoom, OneDrive and SharePoint, and Google Sheets for Workflow Builder are now installed org-wide, which means workspace admins are able to skip the app install step. (They will still have to complete any authorization steps on the app side.)
