An Cúrsa Bogaidh II & III
Cuir thu fhéin san àite seo. Picture yourself here.
In connection with our partners at Cape Breton University, Colaisde na Gàidhlig is proud to host two 6-credit courses on-site, An Cùrsa Bogaidh II (intermediate) designed for university students seeking second year credits, and An Cùrsa Bogaidh III (higher intermediate) designed for students seeking third year credits. These courses are also appropriate for personal development.
An Cùrsa Bogaidh II & III combine conversation and active based learning with reading, writing, and grammar lessons. During the four weeks, students have the opportunity to take part in cultural activities such as visiting, song, dance, music, storytelling and other traditional customs. Field trips are scheduled for each Friday where students get the chance to visit a local Gaelic community, learn about its history, and connect with Gaelic speakers and tradition bearers.
Dates: Monday, May 3 to Friday, May 28, 2021
Professor: Màiri Britton
Deadline for application: Wednesday, March 31, 2021

The Gaelic word céilidh is recognizable to English speakers and may conjure up images of a musical gathering in a hall or pub where you pay to be entertained. But in Scottish Gaelic a céilidh is a visit, where news is exchanged, stories are shared, maybe some tunes or a song, accompanied by tea and a bite to eat. A ceilidh is an exchange, a participatory affair, where one leaves a bit more knowledgeable and uplifted than before they arrived. It is time well spent.
As your hosts for a series of virtual visits, we want to warmly invite you to join us to share stories on our connection with Gaelic language, history, culture and people. Whether you are totally new to the language and culture with no family connections, grew up among Gaels but don’t speak the language, or a fluent speaker, there is space for everyone to explore what Gaelic language and culture means to us, to our community, to our world.
Following in the path cultivated by the Narrative Project, these 90-minute Zoom gatherings will feature voices, moments and stories that we want more of. We’ll connect with topics and invited guests through our own stories and memories. We’ll practice Gaelic hospitality as we hold space for everyone’s story, weaving together a multi-colored blanket to keep us warm in the challenging times of a pandemic and uncertain world.
Nach tig sibh air céilidh? Won’t you come for a visit? Ur Beatha Astaigh – You are welcome in the house.
There is no charge. Register here: REGISTER

CAFÉ BHEAIRTEIS, Fèisean nan Gàidheal
Bidh Cafe Bheairteis a’ tilleadh Dihaoine seo!
’S mòr an ùidh a th’ aige ann an spòrs is seinn cuideachd.
Clàr an seo - https://tinyurl.com/CafeB21 - agus bidh fàilte chrìdheil romhaibh bhon òigridh a tha a’ stiùireadh a’ Chafe.
Fèisean nan Gàidheal’s Gaelic conversation café for young people returns this Friday. You can sign up through the link above and a warm welcome awaits you all from our young Café hosts. Hope to see some of you online on Friday at 4pm.
*For those new to the Café, we have been running online through school terms since the first lockdown in Scotland last March. Conversation is often lively and engaging and led very competently by our young steering group. After the formal ‘interview’ with the celebrity guest we leave the zoom call open for any youngsters who want to stay online and informally chat. The entire café takes place in Gaelic and gives those not so confident in the language the opportunity to listen to peers and build their own confidence in the language as well as forge new friendships with other young Gaelic speakers.

We're currently working our way through issues in Volume 2 (each week, we'll announce which specific issue we'll read) which can be found here: LINK
'N dòchas gun tadhal sibh oirnn! Hope you'll tune in and join the visit!
