The Wisdom Café Coffee Chat Series is back! Join us on Wednesday, 3/10 from 9:15 - 10:15am for the first coffee chat of this series. We will be joined by Eugene Whitlock, Chief People & Culture Officer/AVC-HR, who will be sharing his perspective on the future of work during these ever-changing times. The remaining time will be open for Eugene to answer questions directly from you, the Wisdom Café Community. We hope you'll join us next Wednesday!

Spotlight: National Employee Appreciation Day

This Friday, March 5th is National Employee Appreciation Day!


We have so much appreciation for the Wisdom Café Community and all of the incredible work that UC Berkeley employees do each and every day. While employee appreciation should be expressed regardless of the day, we encourage celebration of National Employee Appreciation Day in order to motivate your team, colleagues and peers to facilitate meaningful connections.

Using Recognition to Stoke Employee Engagement

This resource from Gartner emphasizes the important of effective recognition of employees by senior leaders. Use the initiative tools provided to help you build and establish leadership capabilities.
For Employee Appreciation Day, it is worthwhile to focus efforts creating a culture of recognition in the workplace that will promote longterm benefits and a positive workplace experience.
 

Ways to Recognize Your Colleagues

Find 92 ideas to express appreciation to your colleagues. There are many different ways to appreciate those in the workplace that are budget-friendly and can be done virtually. Some ideas include swapping tasks, nominating someone for a University award, and sending a personalized letter of thanks. These ideas can be done year-round, so be encouraged to appreciate your colleagues any day of the year. 
 

Motivating and Engaging Employees

In this LinkedIn Learning course, learn how to increase employee motivation and engagement by implementing a people-first approach. This 4-part course explores what employees need in order to do their best work and how to provide them with purpose, meaning, and control.
