ArtsEd Tennessee is our state’s ONLY arts advocacy organization that represents all arts disciplines K-12 -- and we are here for you. 
 
Who We Are:  ArtsEd Tennessee is a volunteer association governed by a core leadership team that includes leaders of the primary arts education teachers’ associations and key allies. Our core members Include:

What We Do: ArtsEd Tennessee advances, promotes and supports dance, music, theatre, and visual art education through a statewide coalition of arts education advocates, including education, community, business, and parent members. We work to ensure supportive policies and essential funding to advance quality, accessible arts education for all students. You can find out more about our vision and goals HERE.

Our Legislative Efforts: ArtsEd Tennessee monitors all education legislation proposed by the Tennessee General Assembly. We watch for potential impact in education bills, and provide our state’s lawmakers with the information they need to support arts education. 

We Keep You Informed: ArtsEd Tennessee sends Legislative Updates to our members to keep them informed about important pending legislation, Tennessee Department of Education policy, and actions by the State Board of Education.

We Build Capacity: We provide support and resources for members to build greater capacity for advocacy at the local level. Chick HERE to see our customized Advocacy Toolkit and other resources.

What You Can Do

Beyond your membership in ArtsEd Tennessee, we seek a cadre of Active ArtsEd Advocates (A3) in each of our state’s legislative districts.

The best way to create greater understanding for the arts is by building relationships with legislators. And the most effective relationships are with the legislator's constituents—people who actually reside in the legislative district. 

An A3 Team member is willing to contact their legislative representatives by email or phone in a timely manner for the purpose of cultivating a relationship and providing expertise on specific legislation. 

If you sign up for the A3 Team, ArtsEd Tennessee will:

• Provide guidance in how to cultivate relationships
• Provide context and background on specific legislation
• Offer talking points 
• Set up legislative meetings, as needed

Our approach is positive and non-adversarial. Our role is to provide expertise to legislators to enable meaningful education legislation that supports all learning.
