Dear Neighbor,

I hope you are doing well. Here are a few updates from the county and town.

COVID-19 Update

This week, we marked the one-year anniversary of the first reported case of COVID-19 in San Mateo County. It has been a profoundly difficult year but our town has come together and persevered. Vaccines have given us new hope and optimism but please continue to practice all of the safety precautions.

As of March 4, over 164,000 San Mateo County residents have been vaccinated and COVID-19 hospitalizations continue to fall. COVID-19 vaccine supply remains limited but you can sign up for the County’s notification tool to receive a notification when the State makes you eligible and information about how you may get an appointment.  You can also sign up for the State's notification tool here. Please also continue to consult with and contact your health care provider for updates.

County data regarding vaccinations, hospitalizations, and cases can be found here.

District 4 Planning Commissioner Vacancy

The Town is currently accepting applications from Woodside residents to fill a planning commissioner vacancy for District 4. A map of District 4 can be found here.

The Planning Commission is a volunteer commission that participates in the administration of the planning laws and policies of the Town. During COVID-19, the Planning Commission meets virtually on the first and third Wednesday of the month at 6:00 p.m.

If you are interested or know someone who may be interested, you may check residency requirements, request information, and submit applications to the Town Clerk by emailing Jennifer Li at jli@woodsidetown.org.

The deadline to apply is Friday, April 2, 2021, by 5:00 p.m.  More information can be found here.

Scholarship Opportunity

The Mounted Patrol Foundation and the Woodside-area Horse Owners Association (WHOA!) are offering a $10,000 scholarship award to a local high school senior who has been accepted to, and plans to attend, a college, university or other continuing education program this fall. More information about this great opportunity can be found here.

Neighborhood Clean-up Day

Greenwaste is hosting its next neighborhood clean-up day on Saturday, March 13, 2021. As before, it will be held at Woodside Elementary School from 8am to 11am.  In order to drop off items, you must present the notice that was sent to you in the mail.  If you did not receive a notice, please call Greenwaste at 650-568-9900.

First Friday Event

Tonight at 7pm, the Woodside Arts & Culture Committee is hosting its monthly First Friday event via Zoom. This month's event is a performance by the Costanza-Fong Family String Trio. More information is here.

Town Council Meeting

The Town Council will meet virtually this Tuesday (3/9/21) at 7:00 p.m. The full agenda can be found here

This week, the Town Council is reviewing plans and specifications for the Portola Road bridge replacement project. The Council is also reviewing an action plan that Town staff plans to take regarding town communication, volunteer recruitment, and planning commission appointments.

As always, the public is welcome to attend and comment on these topics. Information regarding calling in via phone or Zoom can be found in the link above. You can also email your thoughts to the council at CouncilMembers@woodsidetown.org.
