TAKE ACTION NOW: Sign Petition to Demand #FreeAtaKhattab NOW

On Thursday, February 25th, 2021, USPCN led a social media storm to demand that the Israeli government release Ata Khattab from its notorious Al-Moscobiyeh interrogation center. Ata is the lead choreographer and dabke instructor at El Funoun Palestinian Dabke Troupe in El-Bireh, Palestine, a long-time friend of USPCN, and a relative of current and former members of our organization.

During the storm, we broadcast a petition demanding that the U.S. government pressure Israel to release Ata. It is addressed to Joey Hood, Acting Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, which advises the U.S. Secretary of State and the Biden administration on Middle East and North Africa foreign policy - including, of course, issues related to Palestine and the apartheid state of Israel.

Please sign the petition NOW at bit.ly/AtaPetition, and continue to share it with your networks, family, and friends.

We just received word that the Israeli intelligence services are refusing to allow Ata to meet with his attorney, so we need to deliver the petition with thousands of signatures to Hood as soon as possible!

Also, WATCH Ata’s father, Mohamad Khattab (Abu Ata), a Palestinian cultural icon and founder of the Wishah Popular Dance Troupe, express his gratitude for the international solidarity in support of his son (in Arabic with English translation)!

#FreeKhitamSaafin

On February 26th, 2021, the Israeli occupation forces also extended the imprisonment of Khitam Saafin, president of the Union of Palestinian Women’s Committees, community organizer, and feminist leader. Khitam was arrested in mid-November of 2020 and placed under administrative detention, an order that detains Palestinians without charge or
trial on the basis of secret evidence. These detention orders are issued for up to six months at a time, and can be renewed indefinitely.

Read what our friends at Addameer Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association wrote on administrative detention, and continue demanding that Israel #FreeKhitamSaafin
