Dolphin Study

March 16 & 24

Explore tidal rivers and sounds by skiff while searching for local populations of bottlenose dolphins. Marine educators will explain various dolphin behaviors like spy hopping, tail slapping and chuffing! Children 10 years or older are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.

Estuary Trawl

March 9, 23 & 30

Climb aboard the 43-foot trawler, R/V Sea Dawg, for a memorable scientific collecting trip. Sample the aquatic communities found in tidal rivers and sounds and identify, count and record the different types of species that are collected. Marine educators will share information about the natural history, diversity and ecological significance of species in the trawl catch. Children 10 years or older are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.

Rain Gardens in Coastal Georgia

March 13

This free webinar will introduce rain gardens as a stormwater management tool for your landscape. Join Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant's stormwater specialist and EcoScapes sustainable land use program manager to learn about what it takes to design and build a rain garden on your property that reduces flooding and improves water quality. The workshop is intended for homeowners, businesses and master gardeners.

Wassaw Island Marine Debris Cleanup

March 31

Join marine educators for a day of exploration and coastal stewardship. The group with travel by boat to the South end of the undeveloped Wassaw National Wildlife Refuge and walk from the sound side to the beach while conducting a marine debris cleanup. Children 10 years or older are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.
