COVID-19 vaccine self-advocacy resource: Share your thoughts
To help make sure you have some reasonable adjustments in place for when you go for a COVID-19 vaccine, we are producing a self-advocacy resource. Before we make it, we would like to know your thoughts on:
  • What might prevent you from going for a vaccine
  • What would help you to accept it if offered one
  • How you would use a resource to communicate your needs when getting it
To help with this, we have put together a short survey. If you are an autistic adult in Leeds and want to take it, please click the button below. We will then use your feedback to create a resource at the end of this week. It will be available for download on the AIM website.

Coronavirus Toolkit: Minor changes
We have made a minor change to some of the resources in our Coronavirus Toolkit. In our Mental Health Profile, Recovery Plan, Communication Profile and Social Profile, we have added a sentence to say that they have been filled in by the people using them and not by Leeds Autism AIM staff.
To download them for free, please click on the link below.

Updates to shielding list and routes to support in Leeds
Last month, an extra 1.7 million people across the UK were added to the 'shielding list' of clinically extremely vulnerable and at-risk people. If you have been added to it, you should have had this letter: Letter to people identified as high-risk. If you have, it says that you should stay at home as much as you can until Wednesday 31st March at the earliest.
In response to more people being asked to shield, a document from local health services, Leeds City Council and Forum Central has information on support available if you are shielding. To read it, please click on the first button below.
Finally, Healthwatch Leeds have put together a survey asking people who are shielding to share their thoughts on how it has been for them. If you would like to take it, please click on the second button below.

Autism Acceptance Month 2021:
Coming this April!
As is the case every year, April is Autism Awareness Month. However, April is also when Autism Acceptance Month takes place! To celebrate both, the AIM team along with the wider Advonet Group as a whole are producing some useful content including videos, infographics and blog posts throughout April.
Keep an eye on our Facebook and Twitter accounts to see what we have planned. We will have links to some of our content in next month's email update.
Volunteer mentors wanted
We are looking for people to become volunteer mentors with Leeds Autism AIM. Mentors are paired with an autistic adult and help them to set life goals and overcome obstacles, meeting regularly. We aim to have free mentor training available next month.
If you would like to become a volunteer mentor with us, please click on the link below to read more about the role and next steps to being one.
