The Third Sunday of Lent
March 7  -  March 13

At Mass this weekend, and for the 4th and 5th Sundays of Lent, you'll hear readings from the Year A cycle, even though we are currently in cycle B. Why this change?  These three readings from John’s Gospel (the woman and the well; the man born blind; the raising of Lazarus) are one of the oldest sets of readings used specifically for the preparation of those about to be baptized. They closely parallel the conversion journey toward baptism and powerfully convey the importance of faith in Christ as the mark of readiness to follow his way. When your parish has Elect (those who will be baptized at the next Easter Vigil), then it is recommended that the entire parish pray and reflect on the same readings as the Elect, even if the Elect will not be present at every Mass. This way the entire parish community is focusing their prayers for the complete conversion of those preparing for Baptism.

  • YEAR of SAINT JOSEPH: In honor of the 150th anniversary of the declaration of Saint Joseph as Patron of the Universal Church, Pope Francis proclaimed a “Year of Saint Joseph” to be celebrated during 2021. In order to unite with the Church around the world in honoring the foster father of Christ, we will begin saying this prayer right after communion at all Saint Clare weekend Masses.
Sunday
  • FAMILY: Join us for Mass! You must register for all Masses beforehand, the link for registration is sent out at noon on Thursdays. Nursery care is offered inside the teachers lounge at B.E., from 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. during Sunday Masses.

  • STATIONS OF THE CROSS: Every Friday in Lent you can join us at 6:00 p.m. to pray the Stations of the Cross, at Bishop England High School. Meet at the grassy median between the roadway next to the tennis courts and the parking lot behind the track field.
