2021 SunSmart WA Country Championships Wrap Up
Well we might have been only small group of Albany 25 competitors for this year’s Country Champs but boy did Team Albany pack some punch!
Enormous congratulations to all of our competitors throughout the weekend both on the beach and in the water. We saw some absolutely cracking performances across all disciplines and such wonderful team spirit and sportsmanship across the board. Medals galore! Team Albany certainly did the club proud.
Masters Champs Wrap
The Mullaloo Masters Champs were held under blue skies with a sudden onshore wind to test the competitors in team events. Seven brave Albany warriors fronted the starter. Here is a record of some of their achievements in their respective age groups....

Fundraising Opportunity – We Need You!
The Port Open Day is on Saturday 24th of April and our good friends at the Port Authority have given the ALBANY SLSC the opportunity to raise much needed funds for the club.
We are seeking a minimum of 4 volunteers to man the BBQ and Sausage sizzle stall. All volunteers and their families are guaranteed tickets into the Open Day as part of their support.

Well done to all of you who went up to Country Champs on the weekend! I hear you did yourself and your club proud.
However your season isn’t over yet, the Club Champs are done but we still have points day on the go, and this Sunday is no exception. We do see some of you going from your events with us onto either water safety or officiating for the Nippers, fantastic! It great to see you all give time to help the next group of Nippers.

Tuesday Night Beach and Board Training
We have many enthusiastic and happy Nippers and Youth heading down our club every Tuesday night for beach and water training. For some, this is their favorite part of being a member of our surf club.
The sad reality is that for most weeks, it’s been a challenge to provide enough coaches and water safety to help improve the skills of our junior athletes on a Tuesday night.

Well done to all who turned up or organised subs for their patrols on the weekend. It certainly wasn’t the beach kind of weather we were hoping for on Sunday and Monday, however Saturday was relatively busy with only a gentle easterly.

Surf Craft Challenge – First Aid Volunteers Needed
Surf Craft Challenge needs two first aid volunteers:
Sunday 6th June 7-10am
One person to be at the start at AEC. Then come around to surf club once all craft have started.
Second person possibly in Sea Rescue 1 boat.

2021 Albany Harbour Swim
Register now for the 2021 Albany Harbour Swim!
On Easter Saturday 3rd of April at 7:30am, join fellow swimmers for a 4km swim starting at Princess Royal Sailing Club and finishing at Anzac Peace Park. The swim is open to solo swimmers, duo or quad teams. Complete the swim and then enjoy hot soup at the finish.

Let’s Go Surfing – Disabled Surfers Association Great Southern (DSAGS)
We’re EXCITED as have dates for Let’s Go Surfing – Middleton Beach
Disabled Surfers Association’s newest branch, DSA Great Southern (DSAGS) will hold four events in 2021.
Saturdays – January 16th, February 20th, March 13th, April 17th, in the water 10am to 11:30/12 noon followed by presentations and a free BBQ.
