Roll up your sleeve to win the covid-19 battle !

A message from Jan

The COVID-19 vaccination rollout we have all been waiting for has finally begun. For the first time in my living memory, being older is suddenly more desirable than being younger because age entitles you to faster access to this vaccine!

After making sure that seniors who live in local long-term care facilities have received their shot, appointments for those 80 years old and up have recently opened up.  If you are a caregiver age 70 years and up supporting a senior...

Questions & answers

Questions caregivers are asking
  1. "I have some concerns about the safety of  covid-19 vaccine and would like to know more about possible reactions afterwards?"

Check out this Quebec goverment website to learn more about the efficacy of the covid-19 vaccine and possible side effects. It is interesting to note that reactions are less common among people age 55 and over.

  2. "My mom had a minor stroke recently and it is hard to understand what she is saying. We are in need of resources to improve communication between her and the staff in her long-term care facility. Who can help?"

A speech-language  pathologist can offer assistance to seniors struggling with the following issues:
    - Difficulties speaking or understanding
    - Voice problems
    - Thinking and memory problems (cognitive)
    - Swallowing difficulties

To learn more about this important topic, join us on March 31 at 7 pm for our next Cargivers' Cafe: How speech therapy can improve quality of  life for caregivers and those they care for
