It is with sadness that Alan Chan Jazz Orchestra's lead saxophone/woodwind player Kevin Garren passed away on February 17, after a year-long, courageous fight with cancer.
Kevin was an integral part of ACJO since the band’s inception in 2011, including many memorable musical journeys such as the “Shrimp Tale” recording project, the New York City Premiere at the Shapeshifter Lab, and performances at the Johnathan Club, Typhoon, the Baked Potato, and many others.
Besides the saxophones, he also transformed many of my piccolo and flute writings splendidly. His creativity flourishes often during many of his stunning solos. Visit ACJO's YouTube channel or click the pictures below to access some of those captured on video:
