From left to right: Jannis Schneider (Communication Officer), Evelin Emmerich (Secretary-General), Isabelle Christine Büttner (President), Hannah Peters (Treasurer), Vivien Szameitat (Vice-President), Martin Wasser (International Officer).

Dear friend of JEF-NL,
as announced earlier, this mail will inform you about the candidates for the JEF-NL Board 2021. As you can see, the Board will change completely. Only our current Secretary-General, Evelin Emmerich, is running for the position of Secretary-General again.
Therefore, this will be the last Newsletter on behalf of the current board of JEF-NL.
We hope you enjoyed the Newsletters, our Events and that you were satisfied with the overall work of the JEF-NL Board 2020.
We wish that the JEF-NL Board 2021 will have a great take-over to contribute to spreading #JEFspirit all over the Netherlands
 💪
European regards,
Isabelle Büttner on behalf of the Board of JEF-NL
For Treasurer:

My name is Anita and I would like to offer my candidacy for the position of Treasurer of JEF Netherlands.
As Vice-President and General Secretary of JEF Maastricht, I have gained insight into the internal structure and organization of JEF, which will be of great use to me in the new position at JEF Netherlands. During my work on the board, I enjoyed the contact with our members and committees and I would like to bring this experience to the new board of JEF-NL. As treasurer, I not only want to take care of the finances of the organization but also actively participate in events and political issues.
At JEF, I appreciate the opportunity to engage with current political issues and discuss them with students from all over the world. This non-partisan network is very valuable in spreading the European spirit in politically difficult times of Euroscepticism, governments undermining democracy and human rights emergencies on European soil.
For Treasurer:

My name is Alexander Cholchev,
I'm studying International Business and it's mainly focused on money management, planning and organizing of resources. I also have a full-life experience in saving, investing, and budgeting. Therefore, I find the treasurer position perfect for me as I will be able to form a sound and clear annual report and budget. Also, this is an opportunity for me to further master my financial report writing. Lastly if elected I assume, I should be doing the coordination of project funding strategies, which will be a nice place to apply the learned from the Uni, as well as develop new connections and broaden the JEF horizons and member circle hopefully.
For Communication Officer:

I am Laetitia, 21 years old.
I would like to offer my candidacy as the Communication Officer in the JEF Nederlands Board 2021-2022.
I have been part of JEF Nederlands since 2019 and a part of the JEF Maastricht board as Head of Promotion and Marketing since June 2019. In this position, I have improved my skills regarding designing posts and creating content - but I have also discovered how much I enjoy this task. I particularly like to promote events or JEF campaigns with substantive content or create infographics about all things in Europe.
I hope to be able to continue to contribute to the work of JEF-NL.
For International Officer:

Hello JEFers!
I am Anna van de Moosdijk, 23 years old, French and Dutch, I joined JEF in Lille (France) during the European Elections campaign of 2019 and now I am a member of JEF Maastricht since September as I moved here to begin my Master in European Studies.
Being part of JEF has allowed me to experience an amazing European Bond and as International Officer, I would like to contribute to strengthening the relations between JEF Nederland and other national sections and cross-border sections. I believe that there is always a time you should give back what you received, and I would like to engage myself fully to achieve the best agenda for this position.
About myself, I am a very social person and I love to engage in passionate political debates, I am a farmer’s daughter, and my favorite European Country is Estonia (unfortunately they do not have an active JEF section yet).
For Secretary-General:

Dear fellow friends of the EU,
I am running for the position of Secretary-General of the board of JEF Netherlands for the second time and therefore would like to introduce myself:
My name is Evelin Emmerich, I am 21 years old and a third-year European Law student at Maastricht University. In 2019, I got into contact with JEF for the first time by joining JEF Maastricht and quickly after that, I became a member of the Board as Head of Events. In 2020 I was elected to the Board of JEF-NL as Secretary-General and in the past year, I was given the opportunity to work with wonderful people on the association on a national level.
I have decided to run again for the same position because even though we already achieved a lot and it was a great time, I am still full of ideas that I would love to work on in the next year. Right now, I am more than passionate and excited to step up my work to the next level and my goals are to bring more structure to the association, to facilitate sustainable growth and to promote a strong and democratic European Union all over the Netherlands.
I would be extremely happy if you trust me again with this position and I cannot wait to see what new challenges the next year will bring!
For Vice-President:

My name is Zenit Schutte, I am student European Studies and a convinced European. It is key for Europe to unite. The emergence of China as a world power and increased assertiveness by states neighbouring Europe threaten the security and well-being of European citizens.
A united Europe is able to maintain stability and the current balance of global power. We do not want states, often autocratic led, to use force to serve their own (expansion) goals, sometimes resulting in repression and violation of human rights. A European Federation could be able to maintain the balance of power in the world. European states competed and fought each other for hundreds of years. We have learned from our history, and I believe that we must now work as a united Europe to spread democracy, security and human rights globally. A united Europe, which stands as a cradle for democracy and human rights, must therefore be established and this entity must take on a greater geopolitical role.
In Europe, we share the same cultural base, largely the same historical process, the same values and the same political goals. From a very young age, I have seen European integration as a must for the future. I would like to commit myself to this purpose. For this reason, I would like to join the board of the Dutch Young European Federalists. I am active in various political (youth) organizations in the Netherlands and internationally. I have gained experience in organizing events, managing projects, leading teams, and performing board position duties. For the pan-European political party Volt Europa, I am ultimately responsible for Dutch defense policy, so I can currently actively commit myself to a federal Europe.
I would like to organize activities for JEF Netherlands about the topic of European Integration and I am committed to persuading more federalists to become JEF members. At the Dutch Atlantic Youth, I gained experience in organizing events on the topic of European cooperation. At JEF Netherlands I would like to focus on European defense and foreign affairs activities for JEF.
I would like to become Vice-President because the Vice-President is a general position that can work for different goals on different issues within the board. I would like to use my experiences and network and I think the Vice-President is the best spot for me to focus on all topics inside and outside the board. I would also like to commit myself to expanding or detailing the JEF Netherlands Political-Program.
From September onward, I will be studying History & American Studies at the University of Amsterdam. This study will provide me with the opportunity to enhance my knowledge regarding the Transatlantic relation between (a federal) Europe and The United States of America. I am currently studying European Studies, in my courses, I learn about the European economic system, the European integration process, the European history, European culture, economic relations of the single market and more EU-related subjects on which I would like to argue with other JEF members.
As described, I am studying in Amsterdam next year, so I can easily focus on the expansion of the local section in Amsterdam and the Randstad.
I look forward to meeting everyone and discussing the future of Europe with the members of JEF-Nederland.
For President:

Hoi iedereen!
I’m Thilo, 21 years old, JEFer by heart. I joined my first youth association when I was 13 – the Catholic Altar Servers Association in Heidelberg back then. Ever since, I’ve learned to appreciate the potentials of youth associations to organize and fight for a just world as well as to provide worlds of opportunities to children, teenagers, and young adults. While growing up, as for many of you, European integration to me was a given aspect of reality; though one that I never noticed or gave much consideration to. I’ve had strong political convictions since I was a child, but never wanted to narrow myself down to a party. And so I spent most of my time on youth work within my community and region for children and teenagers in church-affiliated youth organizations.
When I participated in the European Youth Convention in Strasbourg in 2017, I became fascinated with JEF. I signed up on the spot Saturday night in a pop-up bar in a university mensa, graduated high school, and moved to Maastricht. Having witnessed the amazing potential and the wonderful people, and fully agreeing with the mission and vision of JEF, I’ve decided that I want to become active. Since then, I’ve been on two boards of JEF Maastricht, spent days and weeks on thinking and speaking of JEF, participated in and organized countless events, and studied a bit on the side.
Seeing the possibilities there are for JEF Netherlands to become a vital cornerstone of the democratic debate and exchange on Europe and the European Union in the Netherlands, and to grow into a sustainable and strong youth association, I offer my candidacy as President of the upcoming board of JEF Netherlands to the association. I think that there’s a huge chunk of work ahead of us, and I’m ready to take it on.
