Boise's Consolidated Plan

The City of Boise receives Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Home Investment Partnerships (HOME) funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to address a wide range of community development needs, such as community improvement projects and projects that focus on low-to-moderate income households.

To continue receiving funding from HUD, we are required to develop a Consolidated Plan every 5 years. Our goal is to involve as many community members as possible in this process to ensure that the plan reflects the needs of our community. Demolition Review Amendments

On December 14, 2020, an ordinance amendment took effect requiring an administrative Design Review approval prior to demolition of inhabited structures with the Design Review overlay.

On April 13, 2021, City Council will hold a public hearing on an ordinance amendment requiring a Zoning Certificate approval prior to demolition of select structures outside of Design Review and Historic District overlays. These two amendments, while not ultimately prohibiting demolition, will protect neighborhoods by requiring appropriate re-development plans and creating opportunities for conversations around potential alternatives to demolition.
