LVGH Partners with ShopRite for Cake Decorating Class

This month, students in our Food Services Job Training Program had the opportunity to further develop their culinary skills with a cake decorating class at ShopRite in Vernon. A senior baker taught them the basics of frosting, writing techniques, and even how to pipe roses!

Kaleena Frutuoso, human resources manager at ShopRite of East Hartford and Tri-City Plaza Vernon said, “ShopRite of Tri-City Plaza Vernon is very excited to partner with Literacy Volunteers of Greater Hartford to provide students with some hands-on training in a retail bakery environment. Hopefully, this will spark some student's interests and potentially lead to a career opportunity within our organization.”

Help Our Students Help Their Community with ShopRite Food Bags

Throughout February and March, Literacy Volunteers of Greater Hartford is partnering with ShopRite in support of our Food Services Job Training Program.

The East Hartford location of ShopRite (at 31 Main St.) has pre-filled grocery bags full of products and ingredients that our food service program uses to prepare the twice weekly community dinners in East Hartford. With the purchase of one of these bags, you can help support this program that has continued to feed food insecure families non-stop throughout the entirety of the COVID crises.
