Hi lovely readers!

I hope everyone in Texas is doing better this week! I’m originally from the Houston area and have family there, so my heart was in Texas last week as they had ice, snow, and cold with extensive power outages, water lines breaking, and other emergency conditions.

In Utah, we’ve been having a really mild winter.

My parents on the East of Houston were without power and water, and despite friends offering to house them, they’re long time preparers and felt more comfortable at home. They heated the kitchen with the gas burning stove (with a carbon monoxide alarm nearby), used their stored water and food, and were fine.

My brother and his family in North Houston cooked over their gas-burning fireplace and were cozy.

My youngest brother and his wife who are both new CPA’s during the busy season both WISHED the power would go out, so they could get a break. 🤣

They did steal water from their apartment pool for flushing the toilet when their water was out.

We can survive! :)

I send encouragement and prayers to anyone who is experiencing hardship right now. Seek help if you need it, and hold on! You’ll get through.

His Disinclined Bride

His Disinclined Bride

by Jennie Goutet

Kitty Stokes never imagined she’d be so weak as to sacrifice herself on the altar of family obligations, but when the only alternative to marriage with Lord Hayworth is to play nursemaid to her brother’s children, Kitty reluctantly agrees. On her wedding day, she’s certain she has made a grave error, but it’s too late to back out.

Phineas Hayworth refrained from setting eyes on his new bride before their wedding day—the price he forced himself to pay for being so mercenary as to wed the sister of a wealthy merchant in a bid to save his estate from ruins. Her beauty, therefore, comes as a shock, as does her icy treatment, which he feels he deserves. He swears an oath he will not approach her for an heir unless the invitation comes from her.

As Phineas sets out to put his estate in order and present his new wife to Society, he finds her more enchanting than he could have hoped for, even in a love match. Kitty continues to hold him at arm’s length, although he suspects her feelings for him run just as deep. As Phineas’s love and desire for his wife grows, the oath he swore her begins to suffocate. It soon becomes clear that while he’d once been prepared to settle for a loveless marriage, he will not abide an unrequited love.

His Disinclined Bride is a sweet/clean regency romance, stand-alone novel about arranged marriage.

He’s her enemy. But he’s also wounded and desperate. Will kindness prevail? Could it turn to love?

Princess Finola and her brother, the King of Dún Lethglaise, have a problem. The Vikings continue to cause trouble in the land, and they have found themselves the custodians of several prisoners.

Finola has a kind heart and wants to teach the prisoners the local language, but her brother isn’t so sure. Finally, Finola prevails and in the process, learns the Viking language.

In time, she becomes friends with their prisoners, who sign a treaty of alliance with Dún Lethglaise, pledging to protect it.

But trouble looms in the form of a rival Viking group, and their allies are forced to fight a fierce battle at sea. When it’s over, debris and ruined ships are strewn upon the shore.

While her guards chase down her runaway horse, Finola explores the shoreline. To her horror, she finds a wounded Viking, an enemy. What is she supposed to do now?

Will she listen to the man’s pleas to save his life? Or will her sword find its mark? Will kindness prevail? Could it even turn to love?

This short, clean novella is set in Ireland in the days of the great kings; a time when Vikings raided, clans fought and adventure lurked around every corner.
