SHINE Volunteer Retires
Donna Owen has been serving as a SHINE counselor in Collier County since 2016. Her contribution to her community is recognized with an excerpt from a note recently received, a client Donna assisted last fall.
Jill writes: “Donna, just an update to say the prescription drug plan I chose in November is working out better than I expected.”
Jill’s major concern when selecting a Medicare Part D plan for 2021 was reducing the monthly cost of Myrbetriq as well as ensuring pharmacy convenience and safety. Over a period of about three weeks, Jill compared and discussed overall prescription drug costs with Donna. Thanks to Donna’s guidance, she was able to select a plan that will ultimately save her hundreds of dollars over the course of 2021.
Jill went on to also express the ease of transitioning to another pharmacy: “The experience has been excellent as I was dreading having to switch from the drive-thru service at another pharmacy. I now use a combination of phone and an app when ordering medications which are brought to my car thus reducing further exposure to possible illness.” She ended her note by again thanking Donna for her kind assistance.
Hallie Devlin, Local Coordinator for Collier and S. Lee counties, shared: “This success story is an example of why Donna has been such an asset to the SHINE Program and those we serve. She has been a fine counselor, not to mention a lovely woman who rarely missed any of the all-day open enrollment counseling events in Collier and Bonita Springs over the years, and has always been more than willing to pitch in when needed. She will be missed by all of us down here.”
Thank you Donna for your commitment to the SHINE program and to the many clients you have assisted!
Best wishes on your retirement.
